Personally love my XBSX... But MS strategies just suck these days - Especially with gamepass rates going up.

With consoles no longer seeing the traditional price reductions throughout their lifecycle, is it really that surprising that sales of 4 YEAR OLD technology is declining?!? The majority of people who wanted one has a already bought one...

They are Not meeting sales expectations because there’s no damn games hardly exclusively

Xbox has been losing me more and more. I like having a console, I like discrete physical game purchases, and I don't want to stream. I love Halo, but damn, this new approach makes it hard. Thank goodness for retro gaming.

I just don’t understand the logic with making Xbox console gamers pay more. Like shouldn’t you WANT people on the console more than anything. You capture the person as a complete customer lol

ABK didn't help with revenue growth, it WAS the revenue growth. From that standpoint, the purchase was well worth it. Remember, they bought it at what they perceived as a discount and it's likely producing a better return than whatever instrument they had their cash invested in.

Xbox One gen seemed to be about physical media beginning to be phased out, the current Xbox Series generation seems to be about physical consoles themselves, beginning to be phased out... sad imho.

Five of my friends already sold their Xbox series X consoles and went back to PlayStation just like I did. Game Pass used to be good at one time, but it’s garbage anymore and it has been for a while. And now that they’re charging people $20 a month, they’re losing even more subscribers.

They dont make money selling consoles, so why do people care if they sell less consoles than last year?
They are having huge success with selling games and services.
I'm not sure how that's losing.
You need to look at the overall picture.

A key reason for Microsoft to stay on console is it sets a standard for what specs their games need to run in. If you let that go, theoretically you can add more games that run better, but then it becomes a PC situation where not everyone with an Xbox can play Xbox games.

So I'm making the case here to stay on console even if it becomes deeply unprofitable. It has a role to play in their ecosystem even if most of their customers go PC or streaming

As long as their overall business is profitable, they can keep going like this. As a publisher who also publishes on PlayStation and Nintendo, having their own hardware is an advantage they hold over other publishers such as EA and Ubisoft, both of whom make their PC users use their own clients

I don’t care how much Ms made off Xbox at all. I do not want to play games on PC or on a firestick. At this rate the writing is on the wall. They can’t sell consoles, and their profits are up. You know what the investors are going to say and before you say “Handheld” nope not doing it, I’d rather do Steamdeck. My point is I don’t care what they made, no console means MS can kick rocks.

Feels like they did not actually try, Sony doing exclusive stuff early but Xbox hardly even attempted. If I was CEO I would look at the resources we acquired and played dirty

I have to wonder if an Xbox built to function as a dedicated Windows PC will help them to compete against PlayStation console sales.

Streaming is a very strong component of Xbox’s abilities as a service, but as a substitute or replacement for consoles is out of the question. Every streaming device isn’t designed for hardcore gaming. This is the first time I’ve been able to enjoy the current generation of gaming and because of GamePass I’ve been able to catch up on many amazing titles. I have an Xbox because I couldn’t get a PS4, but I don’t care for either consoles exclusive titles. I just want a device that will play current games the way they’re intended. Streaming or a lower power system is out of the question and if Microsoft stops making consoles it will be a huge loss for the market and gamers. I’ve been reluctant to buy into the eco system because of how things have been going and I can’t imagine people who have their whole collection here. It would really hurt more than it would help. Nintendo isn’t going to fill that void neither will the next gen handhelds. An Apple TV or Amazon Firestick isn’t going to do titles justice.
