Why Can't I Try Marijuana? | Dr. Jibran Khokhar

“Can I try weed? It’s not illegal!” Dr. Jibran Khokhar (Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Guelph) explains that #marijuana is no different from #alcohol or tobacco, which are legal but still harmful and impermissible for use by Muslims since they impair the mind. He explains that #cannabis has significant effects and long-term changes on the brain. He cautions that something impermissible can become permissible in certain cases, and CBD could be deemed permissible for a person if it is proven to have a real health benefit, but this would have to be discussed with a medical professional who understands the person’s medical case.

Greetings of peace, according to this guys logic coffee and turkey dinners are haram because its mind impairing as well. Their is no verse in the Quran that says Cannabis is haram, Cannabis is not intoxicating, and their are zero recorded deaths associated to Cannabis use. Alcohol and tobacco kill millions a year as Cannabis kills zero. With so many injustices in the world it is unfortunate to see Muslims make Jihad against the amazing God given Cannabis plant.

Do you take Paracetamol/ acetaminophen when you feel like you need it? Without a doctor prescribing it each time? Yes, then you are self medicating purely based on your own choice. Furthermore are you aware of the many peer reviewed research papers showing this toxic pill causes several psychological effects, particularly related to empathy and emotional processing? Or that it reduces the distress associated with social pain.? Studies have found it dampens self-reported distress and neural activity in response to social exclusion. It also causes an error evaluation in the brain. Yet you along with the vast majority of scholars hypocritically pop these psychoactive drugs whenever they feel the need to self medicate. Can't you see the ridiculous contradiction? Yes it does matter. Cannabis self medicating is no different than your self medicating with white toxic pills when you choose with no doctor near.

Oh my i loved it but not every one can control it and its creepy kinda beneficial n then it destroys you slowly with out you realizing. All drugs are haram and it will distroy you surely or other eventually regardless you are good or bad person.

Honestly i been smoking for 9 years

And I recommend every scholar to at least TRY IT for 3 days and actually see the benefit side vs getting ultra stone(like 1 - 3 hits only)

I say 3 days cause will they become addicted? If so where is there deen i know i can quit which I already did just to prove to my imam i need it but dont need it as a man.

And this will prove how “addictive” it actually is

When you do it for so long it gets boring nor the high becomes a good high no more especially when you limit the hits

But we’re speaking with people with stomach problems/ulcers/ibs/ sleep disorders you DONT become high when using it in a wise matter for this effect

Do scholars or someone who hasn’t smoked know this definitely not

How can anyone call there self a scholar or scientist if they don’t EXPERIMENT its like saying oh i took some mysterious “poison” but no one ever dies and i never tried it

And Allah is accurate.
If it's not Haram, it's halal.
