Just make sure Minion oversees everything - he'll make sure everything gets done!

They did it, not only because you asked, but because you're making this entire project a good experience for these guys. You're welcoming, serious/yet easy to talk to, also experienced in their line of work.... Basically, how could they say "no" to you.
You're a good man, Nate. I'm glad you popped up in my feed about a year ago. I'm sorry about the hardships you've gone through. But, it's been an honor to have watched (possibly) the best year of your life. Making your dreams come true and growing your big, beautiful family. Thank you for sharing your life with the world.

Its easier to place the metal sheets with the trim as a guide 👍

Looks great!
You're going to love the metal roof!
I'm a multi-generational Floridian in Southwest Florida and been directly hit by 4 Hurricanes (3 major) in the past 20yrs and a metal roof is absolutely the best way to go!
Also, nothing beats the sound of rain on a metal roof to relax and sleep!!!

Oh my, it's coming along well.
I appreciate the fact of you having it a learning experience for the framing carpenters.
I only wish you had guided them with possible details or choices.
So please dont take this as criticism, but as a head off to future issue of failure. The soffit have to be built to carry the anticipated snow loading weight.
If the soffit is strictly a added on assembly with time it will sag.
The time tested solution is to extend the soffit lumber into the interior, matching the exterior length. The exterior wall carries the load and prevents sag or detachment..
😊

An old man taught me how to install metal roofing fast and accurate...square the first sheet and screw down, then lap screw the rest so u can move a little, chalk a lite line and screw the rest, works out great!!!

Man that roof is huge... time for a massive water collection tank.

Yes, I agree and you have a good perspective on how to do this correctly.

Nate, install a center light on your peek under the soffit. A light hanging on a chain or like a goose neck style of farm light

I built my 4 car garage myself. The only part I didn’t do was pouring the slab. I had DW Dicky do it for me. I did all the wiring, plumbing and HVAC as well. I have no regrets and would do it all over the same way

I love that you are getting metal roofing. I wish I had that on my house. It's so much more durable and better for houses like mine in storm and hail prone areas. Huge discounts on insurance if you have it too.

It makes sense, 😊 I'm sure they have it all figured out 😅 they are great contractors 😊

I love the guys working on the garage. It genuinely makes me so sad that they'll be gone once the garage is done. They feel like part of the homestead 😭

This is actually genius. You get to put the long piece of easily damaged trim in place while you have great access to the sub-facia. Then, like Nate said you back out a few screws when you go to put roof tin on, secure it permanently, and do the same process on the facia trim when you get up there to do siding and soffit.
