I’ve learned that telling anyone anything that is bothering me never works out.. I should’ve kept pushing it down like I always have

"It is what it is", meaning we have no control over current circumstances and we must deal with it accordingly.

"I'm fine" is right up there too. When you grow up being told to rub dirt on wounds and getting yelled at for getting blood on the carpet, you learn that anything short of actively dying means you are fine.

Im going to take a mental health day said no one ever in the 80's.

If somebody would have said that to us We would actually think that they were crazy because that did not having back then

I have learned over the years that when somebody says to me "don't worry about that", that I in fact should actually start "worrying about that" !

“It is what it is” translates to, “ There’s nothing you or I can do about it so suck it up and quit your whining.”

I told my boss once that I needed a mental health day. I told him that if I go in, I'm going to go mental and injure someone's health. After working at that practice for over a decade, the docs agreed to give me a paid week off that didn't count against my PTO. It's also the only time I've done that.

#3, we don’t need to be reminded every 6 months, if we said we will do it, we will do it.

"I remember everything you did"
I have grudges going back to kindergarten that still burn with the intensity of ten thousand suns.

#4 is why our kids are the way they are. We didn't want them to experience everything we did. We became overprotective of our kids and made them mental.

I don’t remember ever saying, “It is what it is.” until I got older and noticed that certain people would say that. It is true I guess. I HATE when my husband or anyone would said, “Whatever”. I hated it. Such a cop out and it seemed so immature. I never said that. I don’t remember thinking I needed a Mental Health Day Off. My days off were usually because I was exhausted from working so much O.T. and called in sick. I’m sure it was for my sanity. (Mental Health)

I took a mental health day every time a Star Trek movie came out. Don't know if I played sick or what I said, but I went to the giant dome theater in Hollywood and bought my ticket, and watched my movie.
