I think the problem with going low-tech is that everyone else still expects you to be able to answer immediately since they are not low-tech carrying

Went low-tech myself recently. Absolutely love the lifestyle! Tip to everyone out there; you can get universal pocket clips to stick on your items. Just grabbed one for my tiny mp3 player, so when I lift my shirt a few inches my pocket is just lined with clips to thin single-use tools. Really low-profile and handy to walk around with.

that's so clever and acceptable that you censored your car keys.. Most people don't know or don't pay attention to it. You've earned my respect.

We use the same model watch! And love the iPod and phone dude. Sometimes I think about making that switch

Thanks. You have obviously put alot of care and thought towards these items/choices. Something to consider, even with this new trend. Its the never ending search for completion. I've noticed the same with myself. I have lived reasonably minimist for 10 years. Living out of a campervan for 9 years, so minimal space. My latest focus/desire /obsession is having everything i need in a backpack. I mean full nomadic style. So more consumption, research, to get the best gear for this hobby, tents, cook kit, clothes, backpack, whats the lightest, most durable etc etc. The consumption journey to needing nothing... but thats the trip, we are still always in it. Thats this world, this reality. We are just putting on different suits.

My everyday carry is:
A Casio Calculator Watch
A $40 MP3 player
A pair of multi-driver earphones (aka IEMs. The Chinese ones.)
A generic 4k camera (I'm looking to upgrade to a Kodak digital camera though. It's $200.)
A Steve Madden wallet

After having my old iPod cleaned up new battery, I have had many people say that they have them, but never use them.
I have told them use them get new batteries installed and a couple of friends who have and love them.

Just an fyi those quill pens need their own desk setup, you need ink every half sentence or so, you need a titled writing surface, like 30-45° tilt and you also need an ink pad to absorb the leftover ink

The baby Klean Kanteen actually looks so cool, I'm tempted 😆

Hoping you can one day pick up an automatic watch! There are so many affordable options out there now (I have an Orient Kamasu) and it just brings you so much pleasure knowing the thing is winding itself and doesn't need a battery. It's so satisfying.

I went low tech recently and I'm loving it. I just toss an MP3 player, digital camera and Gameboy pocket in my daypack each morning and I'm good to go. Paired with a small notepad and a regular old wristwatch; my phone only sees usage when I need to directly communicate with someone. I'm considering grabbing an old Palm pilot for scheduling and organizing. It may seem hipster; but this whole process has added a peace to my life that I forgot existed.

Throughout my life, I was always materialistic. I have collected & boughten so many products throughout my life, and while I am more than happy with my collection, I am starting to realize that sometimes, the simpler things are worthwhile. Your channel has definitely been an inspiration for me to live more simpler, and also trying to keep myself de-stimulated from social media.

(BTW the DIY moisturizers & shampoos are really intriguing to me, and I hope you make tutorials about them someday, as skincare & hygenic products are a money killer for me. <3)

I’ve recently started to declutter my iPhone to lower my screen time and be more present. As a type one diabetic with a sensor, I always have to carry my phone to check my blood sugar so a downgrade isn’t exactly an option, my actively working to look and scroll less feels so nice.

hey spencer, if you dont already have them, I recommend you to get some IEMs! (In Ear Monitors (really good in-ear headphones)) i usually use my sony ericsson walkman combined with the Truthear Hexa and the quality is insanely high. And whenever the cable breaks apart, you can switch it out. got that hifi audio quality in your pockets that way.

I couldnt help but chuckle at the lil water bottle, personally i couldn't have anything smaller than a liter but i do drink a ton of water on the daily. I love the notepad and pen though, definitely going to make that a part of my edc

One of the best everyday carry videos I've seen no nonsense items included just to pad out a list. Great vid 👍

I feel like even in the current age of smartphones, we are still in a time where its like "yes, your smartphone CAN do everything but not enough to do them professionally or so well that you'd wanna replace everything with it" Cameras, Gaming, Editing photos or video, 3d modeling? pretty much everything on smartphones are limited heavily, and I think we as a human race like working on laptops and actual computers more anyway. If I had to use my smartphone for everything I think I would actually be living in hell.

also, I love these videos cuz you see what people value alot. I value gaming when im bored so I bring around a DS Lite with me, you value music and books so you bring a dedicated mp3 player and a book, I think the things people carry other than the basic keys wallet and phone really show one's personality and interests, maybe even more then people could say about themselves.

My next "dumb" phone will likely be the Jelly 2, I love how tiny it is and I can't imagine getting sucked into youtube shorts that way. I don't agree with the pricing, but the time it could save me will be will worth it.
