I really enjoy my SoHo pencils. When I use softer pencils I tend to lay down too much color at once. These help me to focus on my layering.

You are such a walking encyclopedia of art media. you're info helps us with our choices of learning this area of art. I have always loved having colored pens, pencils, felt pens since I was a child. I would baby sit and save money for my items. other girls were buying dolls and I was thinking of art supplies. lol

Yes I like reviews. There are just too many products on the market these days. But I will be using my fav staedtler karat Aquarell watercolour pencils until I have used them up (which will be years since I've had them since 1999) I use them all the time and can't believe not one color is half used. The plastic tray is flimsy and think I, too, will put cardboard and tape as u did to make it easier to get to the bottom tray. What a great idea!! Disadvantage of mine is pencils only have numbers on them and I lost list with actual names years ago but have seen it at their website. U have taught me well to use whatever u have. Oh, I made a Gelli plate yesterday!!! Anxious to use but decided not to drag supplies out until after my handyman comes tomorrow to put up shelf, curtain rod and other misc things in my craft room. Thanks for teaching me so many new tricks to the trade.

I really needed this. I always learn so much about basic art stuff that I don't know because I didn't go to art school! That's why we have you. Thanks again

Thank you for info. I agree with you about letting kids use your art supplies I've always let my granddaughter use my high dollar stuff. it's just cool to do crafting with her and let her have fun. Love the videos!

I find that the Prisma Color Premiers break more because the pigment cores are loose in the wooden casing and not so much because the cores are creamy or because people do not know how to sharpen them.

Lindsey, have you ever used Creatacolor aqua monliths? I have had a tin for quite some time but wasn't pleased with what I did with them... they're shaped like a pastel and water soluble. . any tips on how I s/b using them to good effect? ? I prefer detail and am probably approaching it all wrong...

I have a key and tape it to the top of the case because I have my set organized by color and I an clumsy and dropped my case a few times and it helps find the exact color easily

Thanks for the good review, Lindsay. I've been looking for a less waxy pencil, so these might work. Do you have a video that explains more about using the blending stumps? I have trouble keeping a nice point on my blending stumps.

What was the additive that you were going to demo for the waxer pencils that would help them to blend better? Thanks!!

What was the product that you used to blend the colored pencils... ?

I like the Cretacolor line ok....I think I could stand the softness as I have a very gentle hand in my coloring. But I am still a big fan of Luminance and Caran d'ache Pablos. I like the Polychromos to. I want to try these for my demo/plan sketches.because they have a lot of color choices and they are so cheap. Thanks so much for the review !!

Lindsay thank you so much for your awesome energy and the art knowledge you share! Would these be good pencil sets for kids? I teach grade school art and was thinking about purchasing several 24 pencil sets. Thank you.

What was the liquid you used to blend the colors?

If they're made by Cretacolor they are probably similar to their Karmina range. A bit on the hard side but nice for detail.

Ok Lindsay...back again and this time I really need some guidance. I FOUND a handful of colored pencils that say SOHO on them. I have had them tucked away for several years because I just can't seem to use them yet. They don't look like yours. The pencil casing is brown with black dots. Here's my problem...I can't get them to sharpen. I have a new spectrum noir sharpener and nothing. So I tested the sharpener on my Spectrum Noir color pencils and they sharpen fine. When I sharpen I hold the pencil in my dominant hand and turn the sharpener...not the pencil. Any suggestions? Oh and the pencils are the same size around.
