Hey there - so you whether your are a studio musician who is going out to play only an occasional gig, a touring keyboard player with a world renowned band, or you play music in the music ministry at your church - wouldn't it be great to use Reason in a live situation. It is rock solid as a sound module and just begging to be used in performances - but changing instruments has always kind of been tricky requiring a mouse and looking at the computer screen right??? Not if you use the method I am about to show you in this video! If you perform live and use Reason or want to try using Reason for your live performances you cannot afford to miss this video!

Please do not forget to subscribe you won't find this tip anywhere else!! Thanks!

Thank you! Ordered a multi-channel MIDI controller and will be routing it up this way!

Thanks alot man! This is exactly what I've been looking for. I will save this video for future reference. Now I just need a keyboard which makes it easier to switch midi channels. Oh perhaps I can get an usb footswitch for changing midi channels!

Great video! What are you using to switch instruments on the keybaord. I plan on using the Akai 61 Advance. How is that setup?

Outstanding video bro you made so much sense out of gobbledygook and missing information really really thankful and grateful for your concise explanation and to make a point to select the actual instrument and not the mix channel what is a game changer

What about sessions and live looping like ableton? Is that possible?

This is the setup I'm building and would really appreciate your feedback to know if it will work. LOL... I'm thinking of having a keystep pro controlling a TR6S drum machine, Dreadbox Typhon and Nymphes 6, than a Volca nubass. I will run it all through a Tascam Model 12. My thinking is that I could get a Beatstep pro and control a few reason synths as well and record the stems through the Tascam 12... Then dump the stems back into reason later via the SD card and then master the tracks in reason. Will that work?

But you are limited to 16 Midi Channels = 16 Instruments, right?

Does this method work if you're using multiple controller keyboards in your setup? I use 4 x controller keyboards on stage, I'd like to have the 4 x controllers in each Combinator so that every time I select a new midi channel a new Combinator is selected with 4 new instruments via all of the controller keyboards (hope this makes sense).
