I LOVE her new room, but most importantly, the fact that you started with HER ideas for her dream bedroom before designing it.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is the Christmas Eve box. You open it when it gets dark and there's pjs for everyone, microwave popcorn, hot cocoa and a movie. (We wrap the pjs, but you wouldn't have to.) Then we put on new pjs (which look nice for pictures Christmas morning) eat popcorn, drink our hot cocoa, and watch our movie. Some years it's a new movie, other years it's a classic that we've saved back to watch.

A lovely transformation!
My favourite tradition is our reverse advent calendar. We hang an empty felt advent calendar on the wall and I cut out a bunch of Christmas/ winter themed shapes from paper. Then every night we all grab a shape like mittens or candy canes or whatever and we each write something we are grateful for and add it to the calendar. By the time Christmas comes my kids are already feeling overwhelmed with gratitude. And I have saved our old sets. I love looking back and the their writing and thoughts from Christmas seasons past.

I love this room makeover. It really looks like her dream bedroom. I also love her love of vintage. Her joy is contagious. Beautiful job, Cass.

A new Christmas tradition my parents and I started (now that they spend winters with me) is a Christmas puzzle. We work on it over coffee in the am, while making dinner in the evening, and randomly throughout the day. We have it on a puzzle board at the breakfast nook table 🎉😊. It’s been really fun to work on it together.

Love her room...and I have an Abbie too. She's 18 and ready for a room makeover. She wants the Boho look. We have been collecting baskets from thrift stores and she gets so excited when she finds a new one. I just love that your Abbie did the same with the tea pot. So sweet! One of our favorite Christmas traditions to do with the cousins is to have a Gingerbread house decorating night. We have done this for years. We just buy a bunch on candy, frosting, and have used everything from graham crackers to Poptarts as the building materials for the house. This is a hit and now that all of the cousins range in ages from 23 to 15, they get quite competitive. We host this event at Grandma and Grandpa's house so they get to witness all of the fun. Usually by the end of the night someone is wearing frosting. This has made some great memories with our family. Another tradition is the Guess what's in the Stocking Game. Look that one up on Pinterest. Now that your kids are getting older, they would probably love this one too. Thanks for always inspiring me to "love" my home a little more. I feel like you are a virtual best friend who gives great advice. Hugs to you and your family!

Love her new room!
One of our Christmas traditions is that we pick out an ornament for each person that represents something from the year before - it can be sweet, sentimental, funny, etc. Then each year when you're decorating the tree, you have all of the memories. It also takes forever to decorate the tree, because you spend so much time reminiscing! 😂

You should be very proud of the beautiful manners of your daughter. Her gratitude was wonderful to see. 🤗

Love the make over. Decorate pancakes snowman- 3 sizes of pancakes and then decorate, take a photo and eat. Fruit or chocolate chips for the eyes, bacon scarf, sausage arms… get creative. The fun is to see the different ideas. The grandkids love it.

Love Abbey’s new room and what was best was her reaction to it. I found myself smiling and so happy she loved it!

Your daughter’s reaction was priceless. What a sweet and thankful girl, I hope I can give my daughter a cool bedroom makeover when she grows up.

I love Abby's
Christmas ideas - Elf on the Shelf, Apple Bobbing, Advent Calendar's with an age appropriate theme, baking for a secret neighbourhood drop, volunteer at a soup kitchen/homeless shelter/church, Secret Santa, Host a street party, organise a present drive for a kids charity, learn a new/different craft/skill/sport/board game/recipe as a family each year, visit the aged care facilities as some of them don't have family who visit, dress up in matching family outfits and take photos to send as physical or digital christmas cards for the year, find a new town to visit each year that's just a day trip or of these idea's maybe specific to Australia (or maybe just me and my weird family lol!), but you asked for it!

We choose 24 Christmas movie to watch every night in December, which really puts us in the mood! We bake cookies, make mulled wine that we pour in a thermos and go on a walk around the neighborhood which is decorated with twinkling lights. I love it!

Love this make over for a young girl's bedroom. The "granny chic" is so cute! Going to a tree farm can be fun even if you aren't buying a Christmas tree. Find one that has sleigh rides, bonfires, some kind of hot chocolate/cider... Lots of them sell wreaths as well as trees - less mess as it stays outside! There are also TONS of "minute to win it" games online, which are so much fun to play at an ugly sweater party.

A fairy-tale bedroom indeed! But the best part was to see the joy of your daughter 💖💖

You did an amazing makeover!! My father-in-law started a tradition as a joke, but it has become so much fun and we all look forward to it at Christmas. During the year, he kept a notebook of goofy, silly, or embarrassing things that we did throughout the year - and then he'd buy an appropriate gift, wrap it up and it went into the 'Santa' bag. Those gifts were delivered in his old Navy duffle bag by who else .... Santa himself!! My daughter and son are 29 and 28 and to this day, they prefer 'Santa' gifts over the traditional ones!

Each year we bake gingerbread cookies as a family; the fun is in cutting them out, making custom ones, playing with nuts, seeds, and dried fruits as embellishments... Then, usually on the next day because it's a whole production (and also they can't be warm), we decorate them with icing. I have also started doing this with my best friend and her two little twin brothers when they were kids - who are now very tall, broad-shouldered, deep-voiced uni students, but who still enjoy it. You can do it on any weekend in December, in fact probably earlier, because once you pack them in tins or air-tight containers, these cookies will keep for weeks. We don't cut down a tree, but we decorate one together. Me and my niece have made paper chains for the tree (very doable even for very small kids), and some years little ornaments as well (gingerbread cookies count too, if you remember to give them a hole for a string and re-pierce them when still soft freshly out of the oven!). We go sleighing in a park if there's snow, but even if there isn't much where you live, I'm sure there'd be ice rinks, and that's very fun, too. We're Catholic, so there's special masses very early in the morning throughout Advent (season of preparation for Christmas), the sun isn't up yet and you go with a lantern (fun to make with kids, too!) and the church looks beautiful, and in most parishes there's hot chocolate and/or a breakfast afterwards. There's also the Midnight Mass, and because we're Polish, we actually celebrate on the Eve, so after Christmas dinner and unwrapping presents you also go as a family to the mass (kids super stoked about staying up late, either still buzzed with adrenaline and well into the sillies, or energised after a nap amongst toys, often crushing during sermon only to pop up to sing their favourite carols lol) and it really is one long celebration. For Advent calendars, we have this beautiful one with tiny little books of Christmas stories, which is a tradition of its own. For myself I like to do a scratch-off one of little good deeds and/or prayers for the day. One of my favourite pastimes is also listening to something season-appropriate while I buy online or make, and then wrap, gifts. It's a small thing, but I also love sending cards to relatives who live further away (and I feel like in my generation it's already a dying out custom, so I feel it's important to keep it up). I also like just general autumn/winter cosy things, you know? Beautiful walks and then settling in for an evening with a spiced tea and a book... Heavenly.

Christmas traditions - new ornament each year; driving around to see lights; cocoa bar with all the fixings (go overboard); picnic under the tree; getting a new book on christmas eve so the kids can read in their room/stay in their room lol; snowball fight/sledding; watching various christmas movies (christmas in conneticut, wonderful life, grinch, miracle on 34th street, etc)
