Rectal Suppositories is one form of using medicines in the body, either we can take in the form of tablets, or intramuscular injection and intravenous injection. The other route is sometimes through skin, the other route is through the rectum. There is good absorption from the rectum. So Rectal Suppositories are used for 2 purposes one if there is a local disease inside the anal canal and rectum, you do only treatment there like applying ointment on the skin where it is affected, similarly we use something called as Rectal Suppositories. Rectal Suppositories is a bullet shaped thing, and we push it inside the rectum. Most of them are used for treating the diseases such as proctitis, pain relief, constipation, to stimulate the bowel and passing of stools. So this the way of using Rectal Suppositories, the commonest being Suppositories for treating constipation. So here is setting called as bisacodyl with different brand names. So they are used as Suppositories for treating constipation. 1 to 2 we will use and within few minutes patients will be able to pass stools. Also for treating any medicines, for orally, like paracetamol is used orally, it can be given rectally, other one that can be absorbed through the rectum and acts all over the body , like the pain killers can be used. So Rectal Suppositories are one form of introducing the medicine, they will be like bullets, they will be required it keep it he fridge, otherwise they will melt and before using we will put inside the anal canal.
