oh my God you are a lifesaver... I have my maths GCE O levels tomorrow and I've always had trouble with quadratic number patterns. Whenever I consult my teacher, I still failed to understand the entire concept. Within 10 minutes, all that was settled... I couldn't thank you enough... I feel much more confident about the exam now :)

for finding the b you can also do 3(a)+b=4 where a is the number you got after doing the 2a=2 a=1 thing, just substitute the a with 1 and you can easily get 1

their is an easier way to get "b" use the formula "3a+b=first difference between n=1 and n=2.
Therefor:
3a+b=4
3(1)+b=4
b=1

Wow u r an amazing teacher..god bless..but u said b (2)= 2b...I thought it was =b to the exponent 2 cuz its a multiplecation..then b + b =2b ...but it works anyways :-D
