Can we achieve gender equality by 2030?

In 2015, world leaders set a bold goal: gender equality by 2030. Despite some progress, the gap remains alarming.

Poverty rates are improving following increases during the pandemic, with 9.8% of women and girls (compared to 10.3% last year) living in extreme poverty (less than $2.15 per day). However, at the current pace, it will take 137 years to eradicate extreme poverty for women and girls. The number of girls out of school has decreased by 5.4 million since 2015, but 119.3 million remain deprived of education. One in every four seats in parliament are now held by women, up from 22.3% in 2015, but the slow pace of change means that gender parity may not be reached before 2063. Child marriage has declined from 24.1% to 18.7% since 2003, but at this rate, girls will continue to be married as children until 2092.

Progress on gender equality is possible in our lifetime. Now is the moment to renew our commitments and scale up investments.

I personally hold men responsible for all the problems the planet is currently facing. Who has been in charge all this time? How was it accomplished (hint: forms of violent acts)? Why are 50% of the humans on earth suppressed? It isn't like men are smarter than women. I would argue the opposite, as men lack self-control, patience, and foresight in general. How would things be different if, all the time recorded thus far in history, if women had an equal input? The cost of that not happening is devastating - I question whether there will be a planet to save in the very near future. It seems men cannot stop making all the wrong decisions and worse ones, it almost appears as if they would rather stroke their ?egos? instead of destroying all life on the planet. Because that is exactly where it is going at an increasingly accelerated pace, make no mistake.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful achievement for the world? Sadly even in more democratic and 'evolved' nations old fashioned toxic masculinity and misogynistic ideas are creeping back into popularity amongst certain layers of society.
