This is a beguiling strategy that incentivizes society to imminently accept Universal Basic Income. An abbreviated work week will increase prices and subsequently will also increase the cost of living in general. This will obviously increase demand for Robots and Ai employment across all markets. Consumers and Employers will welcome the replacement of human workers.

My job doesn't even have 40 hours to give. I barely clear 35.
Some jobs will obligate you to 50 to 60 for less than a living wage, yet they try to make it look like they're doing you the favor.
Prices keep rising rapidly and wages don't. Most people cannot work multiple jobs and a 2 income family still isn't enough to pay bills.
I don't care how many days gets you to 40 hours but there seems to be bigger problems that people are ignoring. 40 hours of work a week doesn't mean squat if it doesn't cover all the rising costs of living.
I reluctantly believe that this is what it felt like in post WW1/1920's Germany and that is very frightening for a history buff because it sets the table for something terrible if you know what came next.

I used to work a 4 day work week, 10 hour shifts, with 3 days off. I loved it!
