People dont want homeless in their communities, on their sidewalks, in their parks, on their water or breathing their air and that is sad.

as a homeless disabled army veteran this is a struggle that personally affects me, and has a negative affect on my mental health.

Especially seeing how little people want people like me in their society just because im not indoctrinated into the expectations of society today

Some are homeless because they choose to be

To all the people commenting about how the people camped there should be left alone.. I bet you'd be calling the city every day if they were parked in your neighborhood. What a bunch of hypocrites.

the number of homeless I've seen in the past 3 years has quadrupled. What irks me is not the 'homeless'. It's that the city doesn't do more to help these people. they're made their own affordable housing in a society that doesn't provide any options. when a wait list for rental assistance is 4 years long and requires hoops, paperwork, and strict restrictions to your autonomy it's no wonder people end up like this.

I have nothing against the homeless. God bless them. Why do they hoard so much stuff, I think it gives them security like if they had material wealth. Like having their own homes.

You should leave these people alone.
The rich complain about the sight of the destitute whom they exist off the backs of.

The cost of living is really high nowadays. This isnt the 90s anymore where rent was $750 in Ocean lakes and gas was a dollar a gallon. We live in a society where making it is more challenging than its ever been. Combine that with the costs of housing, bills, gas, food, insurance... many people who dont have friends or family to help them. Life is already hard enough. Do we have to make it harder for people already having a hard time. I do agree they should clean up after themsevles though. If they are that unfortunate the least they could do is be good citizens and if they do that, we should TRY to be good neighbors. I see some people, one guy i know see at Military Highway begging for money, totally disabled. Hunchback. Really sad to see...

That same pickup truck sat for almost 3 months in the back section of Riverside Memorial Park off Indian River Road in Norfolk.
