I retired as a newspaper reporter and editor 21 years ago. In my 35 years of covering news, I and my colleagues (most of whom were liberal) strived to be fair, honest and objective in our reporting. Today's journalists are a totally different breed who push political agendas and do not even try to objectively report the news. When I watch the news on TV or read a major metropolitan newspaper these days, I am embarrassed to tell people I once was a newsman.
