Here 20 minutes outside Asheville. Still no power since 8am last Friday. We’re starting to be able to get gas again, but there are neighbors still trapped at their homes. Several still missing. Please pray for them

My Son and I literally just got back from North Carolina an hour ago. We took like 50 cases of water, 600 lbs. of Dog and Cat food, 27 cases of M R E's, baby wipes and canned Chicken to a Staging point in Louisburg. My Awesome Son, just recently got out of the Army and paid for everything out of his own pocket.

The guard should be activated in every state traveling down there to help those people they're American citizens

That's sad that our own government is not helping.

My little brother is far inland in SC and his place is trashed. I lived through Andrew and Harvey but Helene's path is baffling.

This was exactly the response we had in 2013 to devastating floods in Alberta. The people came together long before the government got involved and when the government did get involved they tended to get in the way of the volunteers. (I'm still pissed about the High River gun grab precipitated by the floods, but that's another story.) Why do so many people not understand that too much government is a very bad thing.

As someone from Asheville, who NEVER thought we would have a flood, let's recognize the Cajun military. They've been up here since day 1 and haven't left. They have helicopters that have assisted in rescues. They have floater boats that have assisted in rescues. They've provided assistance and rescue along with MANY others, in SEVERAL small surroundings towns. Also, I just want to give thanks to the lineman, who showed up and haven't left. I don't want to leave any of them out, so thank you ALL! People have mobilized immediately, (they remember Katrina), and assisted, and along with helping, they helped mobilize many others. And...have been working their as*es off. We have towns that have been wiped off the map, not from not planning, but because a Hurricane hasn't hit here EVER, in the history of records. We have private helicopters helping, private planes, people in floater boats going out and, helping before the actual government, but what anyone expects, but shouldn't, is help from our actual government. We've had truckloads delivered and coming, from several states, but yet no one is waiting on the current government, imagine that! We have had overwhelming support from our surrounding states, and outside of that, but from the current government, Biden & Harris, no response. Nothing, I am done as a Independent since Reagan. Trump all the way! We were declared an emergency DAYS ago, f*ck the current governor, fu*k Cooper. I am DONE with the current government, and Cooper. We are predominantly a Republican state, but thanks to 4 counties, we have a Democrat leading the state, but an almost all Republican house. FTS!! I am DONE! I have friends that have had their houses and businesses totally wiped of their foundations. But, yes f*ck us, send more billions to Ukraine. People recognize, ALL our help has come from state, friends, and family members of people affected. Please, don't do this Kamala shi* in 2024!

No, North Carolina was used to hurricanes. It’s just usually not the mountains, which makes it even harder for them to get the repair trucks and any repair cruise for any utilities up there.

The Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team was with us for months after Michael. They have had boots on the ground since Day 1 after Helene. Please consider donating to them!! They really are wonderful people!

My heart breaks for everyone affected by this storm!! It’s absolutely awful!

I’m glad DeSantis is still the governor of Florida. He did a great job with helping his state/people very quickly.

Even in south Georgia, we did not know enough early enough to plan for this! My boss even sent out an email on Thursday afternoon saying it would turn and that they expected full services (hospital) to continue on Friday and that if someone needed extra support just let them know but no big plans for staff to stay/come in... By the morning we were on generator power and it was a mess outside! Half the dayshift call-out due to trees blocking roads or worse on their house or car. My boss had a tree in her kitchen.
