I think it's a red flag of sorts when someone tells you that you should go to therapy just because you raise justified concerns about your feelings in the relationship.

When she says I'm being too emotional and dramatic, it usually means SHE is being too emotional and dramatic.

It's all about control. They want you to stop being a certain way just because it dosen't sit well with them (selflish), they don't posess the emotional intelligence nor care to invest in a resolve and or an admittance of deliberatley manifesting these feelings in the first instance.
Allowing another to dictate, control and pour their derision down your throat is soul destroying. Don't give yourself a toxic furture.

Thank you! I have almost completely shut down my emotions with my husband because of the gaslighting. All I feel now is seething hate. I want my smile and happiness back.

What it means is that they realize you are trying to hold them accountable and it's their way of saying "screw you" in a passive/aggressive manner.

“They like to cause shame in other people”..that is sadistic

Please please do one on narcissistic friends.. that would be so great. Like how to tell if your friend is a narcissist? I feel like friends are a bit trickier to spot, even though they may have the normal signs. A lot of videos address "toxic" friends, but I'd really love your perspective, since you usually only address narcissist parents or romantic relationships.

It means they want you to shut up and just take it

Been told I've been too sensitive or emotional by my father since I was a child if I ever questioned why he was drinking, ignoring me or being cruel. Only now have I learnt I was having a healthy emotional response to bad behaviour.

My narcissistic ex husband would always tell me “wow relax !” Or “stop instigating “if I dared to react to his constant abusive treatment

True. Telling somebody that they are too sensitive is a gaslighting. It is denying that person’s reality and feelings. It is very unsafe and psychologically dangerous. The worst type of psychological and emotional abuse is gaslighting. Thank you dr Ramani❤

So great! I didn't realize when I was being called petty, over-sensitive and over-analytical that it was a form of gaslighting! I had identified other forms of gaslighting, but it makes sense that those type of statements by my narc ex are considered that too... I certainly felt invalidated and merely labeled them as 'character attacks' at times. Thank you for this! Narc-free is the way to be.

That one, being "too sensetive", I heard all my live.. from my mother, brothers and even friends.
I allways was offended by it, but couldn't get my finger on it.
But now, when you explain it like that, it makes a whole lot of sense indeed!
Thank you very much 🌻

It means that you're resisting me too much, and I'm having trouble controlling you.

My covert mom would say: - "Josie should be more like a duck and let the words slip over her back!" My thoughts were along the lines of 'I've been in an oil spill?'

Dr Ramani, you rock and thank you for being so frickin' grounded. A blessing in such a narcissistic society 🐬🐬🐬🐬

Haha. My dad literally told me to stop being so "sensitive" today after he made me cry by triggering me, because he's trying to make me "strong" and life of full of disappointments. He bragged about how he's a "hard" person and I just have to get used to it. 😂

Dr Ramani this is so accurate. Indeed I was being gaslighted. When I suspected my ex narc for cheating and brought it up he would say things like "You are making things up in your head", " why do I want to create issues when there is none?", "I don't have time for those things as I am concentrating on school and work", oh and he will shame and guilt trip me. At the time I was in school and he will say things like " instead of you to concentrate on your studies you're there creating problems that don't exist" this will make me feel so bad that i won't question him again. Fastforward he discarded me and married another in 4 weeks. Thanks Dr Ramani for bringing clarity to my ordeal.
