Any sane wizard should be afraid of Bellatrix Lestrange unless they thoroughly outclass her in magical power, knowledge and ability. And have eyes on the back of their head.

Understandably so, Lucius is a piece of work but he's also a man of logic and reason. There is no reasoning with madness, Bellatrix is cruel and unpredictable, she acts without considering possible outcomes and she'll always go for the attack and the method that inflicts the most pain on her victim. She could derail everything. Just as in the Dept of Mysteries, Lucius was content to take the prophecy and leave the kids alive in exchange for the intel he need for Voldemort, Bellatrix's only thought was to inflict pain, thus unravelling the plan.

Lucius is a giant wimp, picks on kids but is scared of any wizard or witch that has surpassed the skill level of a student.

bellatrix's fatal flaw was underestimating her opponent. also never forget the battle at the Ministry of Magic, where she was too busy taunting and goofing off to properly fight. Ended up getting disarmed, jumped, and stupified only to run away and got hit with several spells by Harry in the process. Unfortunately Harry didnt have the balls to cast Crucio or the other spells properly, but if he did bella wouldve been in trouble. Bella had incredible reflexes and could cast powerful curses and transmutations NON VERBALLY, making her a very hard opponent to go up against. She was also strong because she was very ruthless, she would not hesitate to trick someone, surprise attack, or play dirty if it meant serving Voldemort of helping her to achieve her desires. But because of her power and always winning at duels, overtime she grew cocky. Combine this with growing more insane overtime, she eventually stopped taking fights seriously, frequently letting her guard down and allowing her opponent to get off easy or hit her with spells.

when bellatrix lost to moly weasley, in my personal opinion, bellatrix does have some flaws, including being too dismissive of people and careless. if she's serious enough about dueling with molly i'm 100% sure she can beat molly.
