Any time that time travel is introduced into a story, it creates some complications. Thankfully, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was able to explain any time travel issues by saying that every change simply created an alternate timeline. There are many of these in Marvel’s grand multiverse, and we’re going to be hearing more about the multiverse in upcoming films. It’s not the easiest concept to get a grasp on, but we’re going to break it all down. I've been wondering some things about the Soul Stone:
1) How would the stone be returned?
2) Since the Red Skull was guarding the said stone, with it gone what would happen to him? I mean, he doesn't really have anything to guard anymore.
3) Capt. was the one who returned each stone. I was curious if they both had a brawl with one another given that they both knew each other.

In the 2014 timeline where Gamora also disappeared, it means the GOTG might never happened, thus, making it possible for Ego to find Quill, convince him, and invade the whole universe with his seeds.
So, that timeline is already doomed even if Thanos disappeared there.

The Multiverse is a smart way to allow almost anything into the MCU. Tobey Maguire Spiderman, X-Men, Venom, Deadpool, Batman, etc. It fixes all continuity problems and allows any character who ever died to come back in another form. Nice cheat code Marvel. Smart.

I think the reason for the Multiverse is in case that Marvel have to reboot things in the future, but still keep the MCU canon at the same time! They could make reboots happen in other universes.

I think this is what the next saga is gonna be about the Multiverse. This might be a way for the X-Men and Deadpool to join the MCU. The MCU is gonna probably do what DC did for the Arrowverse during their crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths”. Where Marvel’s previous films outside the MCU exist an a alternate universe as an alternate Earth. For example: the main MCU world is Earth-616, the X-Men Film Universe is Earth-6160, the Raimiverse is Earth-99, and the Tom Hardy’s Venom is like maybe Earth-1313.
