How fast is a gigabit Internet connection?

How does your Internet connection speed compare that of a Gbps (Gigabit per second) connection like Google Fiber? This video illustrates connection speeds using water.

I drilled holes so the area of the opening is proportional to the speed (1 Gbps = 4 in. diameter; 768 Kbps = 1/8 in. diameter; 4 Mbps = 1/4 in.; 15 Mbps = 1/2 in.; and 50 Mbps = 7/8 in.)
