We Bought A Basket Case Jeep SIGHT UNSEEN! Will It RUN AND DRIVE After Being Parked For Years?

A guy finally bought his first Jeep! The "wrong year wrangler"! We needed something to tow behind our old RV, so the obligatory Jeep was acquired. I bought this old wrangler out of North Carolina and had it towed back to my shop where my Son and I will attempt to repair it, and hopefully it start, run, and drive once again!

Hey Derek, I’ve commented before, but I wanted to make sure you saw it. It’s my senior year, and I wanted to honor you as a very influential person in my highschool career pushing me towards the trades, so I used “I’ll be dipped” as my senior quote (I gave you credit for it). Thank you for everything you do, and if you’d like me to change it please let me know

I know how to fix cars Derrick. What I’m not good at is making an environment where my kids like working on them with me. This is where you’ve helped me the most. You’ve helped me with small tasks I can give them when they ask if they can help and make them feel important. This is why I thank you.

“Where’s the fire extinguisher? Uh… I think we used them all “. There’s gotta be a story somewhere in there 😂

Hey derek. So a few things
1- the 4.2/4.0 series of engines do run at 210.
2- the rust in the windshield frame is normal. Quadratec has replacement frames for fairly cheap
3- the weber carb is an aftermarket replacement. Factory came with Carter YF computer feedback carbs, which is why there was an O2 sensor.
4- find a donor YJ or TJ with the 4.0 and steal the AX15 . The BA10/5 was an extremely weak trans, and getting parts fornthem now is almost impossible.
Keep up the good vidsos!

Made me smile that you are teaching your son to work on cars. Him explaining what he did to the cap and rotor was awesome. Let your kiddo know he rocks.

I work for jasper engine's and our factory in willow springs Mo. builds the 6 cyl AMC that has a 3 year 100, 000 mile transferable warranty. Use that number on that tag and jasper should be able to tell you the mileage of the jeep when it was installed

Derek, you’re a freaking awesome dad! It’s really impressive watching how patient you are with your son. There will probably be a day when he wants to do something different, keep him here with you. He will look back as a grown man and cherish every memory. God bless

Hey Derek, just wanted to say thanks for keeping this show family friendly. It's one of the only car shows I feel comfortable watching around my little ones. I appreciate you!

Bentley is the possibly the best mechanics assistant there is he always pays attention, asks all the questions and learns from his mistakes (very few) and he has the best teacher you could ask for ...I foresee great things for this young man.

reminds me of when I was a kid, keeping my dads 62 willys running so we could plow snow around the property in the winter. Some of my best memories. Loved this video
