Game Jams are easily one of the most stressful and most fun activities in game development. That's why there are so many!

Building your dream game made from love and passion is the poetic notion that drives most of us.... but have you prototyped a really stupid idea lately?

Sometimes that's way more fun. And refreshing!

I think participating in Game Jams from time to time is essential in pushing you to learn more and to challenge yourself. Many times it refreshes your desire to work on your dream game. Many times you find a new game idea that you become passionate about. And every time you should come out of the jam with valuable experience!

I recently did my first 48 hour game jam and I had alot of fun ♡
It was "mix it up", I did a game where you played the monster, killing humans, when you die you win and if you reach the end you lose. Your basically playing a part as an enemy instead of player I guess.

Also I find adding a main menu (just something that goes from main to game and main to quit and sometimes a settings) and adding a pause, really helps bring a game together.

Even if you just had one game scene that was super basic, you still have a full game.

Other wise you just have one game level that doesn't go anywhere and doesn't look very complete.

Definitely agree! I did my first game jam recently and I made a blind accessible Simon game. And Simon was a great game to help me learn about arrays and lists so it was very valuable experience. And I got a little fun game out of it, too. :) I have so many half-started projects from years ago, it's embarrassing. XD But I feel like it's finally time to buckle down and get serious about making my own indie company.
