Normally there's no one to blame in tragedy but this finger here has some actual targets. It wouldn't have been much to take Sybil to the hospital. If she had still died, at least everything was done to save her. This was a stupid death.

He allowed his snobbery to influence his decision. I don't like the plot line later on where he asks the family doctor to lie to his wife and say that he was wrong. I know it was to save the marriage, but it was the wrong thing to do.
