The Courage to Keep Going – Dr. Charles Stanley

We often feel tempted to quit when we're in the middle of such difficult circumstances, but giving up is not consistent with who we are as followers of Jesus Christ. Dr. Stanley shares how the apostle Paul is a perfect example of someone who never gave up despite persistent difficulty and hardship.

I am 77. I fell on a Sunday night 8/11/24), 5 days before my scheduled surgery to remove a tumor caused by recurrent melanoma. The surgery was cancelled as the fall caused multiple pelvis fractures. Orthopedist predicted full recovery is one year. Never knew pain like this existed...after 3 weeks it is easing some. There are days, like yesterday, when my physical theraphy exercises are too much..when seeing the tumor on my body is more than I can withstand or understand. Days when a wheelchair and walker seem like my future. Days when I feel God has abandonded me. Why did He not keep me from falling? Why, why, why??? I listen to Dr. Stanley's sermons throughout each day and everynight as I fall asleep. I have been encouraged by his messages and teaching since the 1990's. So blessed to find this message this morning at a time I feel truly overwhelmed with a hopelessness I have never known. I have difficulty finding comfort in scripture and prayer. This message came right when I needed it. When the desire to give up is stronger than my desire to keep trying. I will not succeed in recovery if I stop trying. I have to put forth effort and action to my faith...to rely on God's strength as mine is weak and failing. So grateful for this precious message from Dr. Stanley...for his wisdom and love of God's word. Giving up on my circumstances is giving up on God. As a Christian I can never do that...I must run my race to the finish...even if that run becomes a crawl. The enemy wants us to quit, God wants us to finish. We must push through our trials being steadfast and unmoveable, asking God for courage, in the glorious name of Jesus. I pray for courage, strength and joy for all of us who are faced with difficuties. May we understand God knows our individual situations, has a plan perfected for each of us and His goodness will always prevail. Hang on to Hope...the Lord is our strength and our song.

I lost my first born last year. That was my worst day and I struggle daily BUT my Father has and always will have me. He has carried me through this entire time. My other kids and family have also helped. I thank the Lord daily for His love.

I don’t know if Charles Stanley believed in election but he was sure chosen by our Father; his insight to scripture is very deep. His teaching on anxiety (my PTSD) has pointed me to the Lord to heal me. And our Father was faithful & true. His teaching on not giving up & suffering has gotten me through by pausing and encouraging myself in the Lord. Once again our Father was faithful & true. Thank you In Touch Ministry in having these videos available; they have really helped me in my time of suffering.
