Squirrel With a Gun Review

In this game you play as a Squirrel, but not just any Squirrel, you’re a Squirrel with a gun.

These agents are your enemies, but you have a few options for dealing with them: you can sneak around and avoid them, or you can take them head on.

The combat is completely over the top, and because you’re so small, guns have tons of kickback.

But you can use that to your advantage to do things like double jump using the recoil from the gun.

The trailers for this game make it look like combat is the main focus of the gameplay. And although there is a good amount of shooting and snapping necks, the main objective of the game is actually all about collecting Golden Acorns.

It's really a sandbox collectathon, with puzzles, platforming, and other various challenges. There’s a lot of variety, and fortunately, everything is at least fun enough to keep you playing.

But there's no denying, the main attraction is the sheer novelty of playing as a Squirrel with a gun – that’s why it’s the title of the game.

If it wasn’t for this gimmick, the core gameplay would be fine, but fairly unremarkable.

Still, I think that if you go into this with the right expectations, it can be a lot of fun, and it’s a great palate cleanser to play between games that maybe take themselves a little too seriously.
