The Grand Canyon is no more than 4500 years old. All of the strata seen there were laid down in just a few months. Later, much of the sediment t was ripped away leaving the canyon as the floodwaters of the great flood washed off of the continent.
The canyon was formed mostly by the action of an enormous waterfall at least 600 miles wide encircling the entire canyon, which created countless other waterfalls at lower levels in the canyon until the water drained off leaving the trickle we call the colorado river as a reminder.
