I adore bearded dragons. I've had 3 of them now and they make wonderful pets. They each have their own unique little personalities.

One of my co workers recently got a bearded dragon for free from a pet store. Apparently, it had some kind of deformity on its head (a little bump), but because of that, they didn't think they would be able to sell it, and had intended to just kill it and dispose of it. My co worker knew someone that worked there and offered to take it instead of them killing it. Fast forward a bit, and the dragon goes through its first molt. The last bit of skin to fall off was on its head. Turns out, the deformity was just some odd irregularity in the surface skin that disappeared completely when that layer of skin fell off. He got himself an awesome pet for free because other people are stupid and impatient.

I remember in my 8th grade science class the teacher had a bearded dragon named Berry, and we all thought that it was a female. That was, until my teacher brought Berry to another classroom that also had a lizard. When the lizard and Berry met, Berry’s spiny beard poofed up and they started chasing the other lizard around the room. From that point on, we called him Barry.

I recently lost my two bearded dragons. A word of advice to those wanting to keep them as pets: DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING! I was in a Facebook group for bearded owners, and I’ve never seen so many idiots who didn’t know the basics of how to care for them. Someone even made a post about trying to pick off a beardie’s third eye.
