How Programmers have become Obsolete - Deepmind AlphaCode

Показать описание
Deepmind released their new Programming Artificial Intelligence called AlphaCode inside of a Programming Competition and it managed to beat and surpass the majority of the programmers there by quickly solving really difficult coding challanges. This might be the first look into a world where most programming is done by AI while human programmers are just another industry of jobs that were made obsolete by AI.

So, what is your opinion on more and more non-manual-labor jobs becoming possible for Artificial Intelligences? Does that concern you or do you believe that it will be a while before Artificial Intelligence gains the capabilities that are necessary to compete in a complicated field such as programming?

Gen-X child of the 1980s here. I remember the first year of my computer science studies in the early 90's hearing a professor saying that we should save our money while we can, because we are only a decade from the machines largely being able to program themselves. Fun to see that belief is still in circulation. 😂

I’ll be scared as soon as Alphacode can write programs based on contradictory, impossible, and/or non-existent specifications

Who cares if we lose our jobs. We lost already the argument if humans only deserve life if they produce useful work.

Every corporation can kiss their profits goodbye when there are no jobs left due to automation. It's common sense that if you replace your labor force with automation, there will be no one left to buy your products or services. Wether they like it or not, every business is connected with each other through labor. It's the only way for a business to prosper. Sure they may make some profits off other countries they do business with, but how long is that going to last when society and the economy collapses around them?

It's not about all programmers losing their jobs for AI, it's all about one single experienced programmer doing the job of 100 other programmers in one Single day with the help of AI .
Our salaries will lower and less jobs on the market will be a reality

When an ai is able to decompile any software, that's when programmers are obsolete

Programmers programming programs to replace

Yup. Very soon a program will be defined by some logic tree in conjunction with system requirements and AI will do the coding. Then if there are bugs either the requirements or logic needs to be reworked. Why does this not make sense? Writing code is just the white collar version of manual labor. Why would this not be susceptible to technological advances?

So some programmers, somewhere are programming themselves out of a job.

Q: How to keep a roof over your head and food in you belly when there are no "Jobs"

Programmers will not lose their jobs, they'll only have AI as assistant and code cost will be cheaper.

I've found that I do better work if I take the time to specify in ordinary language exactly what I want - all the outputs that ought to result from all the inputs, on all matters of consequence. (For example, I may want not only a certain precision of result, I may want the result by a certain deadline.) This is far more difficult than it sounds, but once I have the logic worked out in plain english, the code just falls out of it quickly. This process of specifying what one wants is the real creative and exacting part of the task. I'll be quite happy when I can feed such a spec into an AI and get working and robust code in return. I won't lament not doing the actual coding.

Jawa, c, c++ have become old computer programmes as far as western countries are concerned including United States. Now artificial general intelligence and super intelligence programmes and machine learning programs are very popular in robotics which is ruling all fields in those countries. Indian techies also should learn these programming languages very fast to compete with international firms in robotics and other fields where machines are deployed. Thanks for the video.

If the coding standard is on a par with the voice-over in this video, I won't be worrying just yet.

Note to self: wait for the stock market correction, then pick up some Alphabet stock.

A steady paced co-opted future allowing ourselves to evolve with our creation including optimizations for better cognition, memory and efficiency.

This would lead to superior manufacturing and fabrication methodologies offering a precision level of version control rather than a straight forward consensus for vanilla standardization.

Good and creatively imaginative programmers can now feel free to create by diving straight into the light rather then wait for teams, schedules (or lucky breaks).

Whoever said the Matrix was bad? LOL

my question is where can we get our hands on it to play with it? Like codeX is available for all? or it's only google's toy?

I foresee that one day AI will develop their own programming language to the point that we humans might not be able to understand what AI is saying or trying to do.
