THE CREATOR (Simulants, AI & Future War with Robots) EXPLAINED

Gareth Edwards, the mastermind behind "Rogue One" and 2014’s "Godzilla" returned to the director's chair with "The Creator” a deep dive into the burgeoning and often contentious dialogue about artificial intelligence.

While not without its flaws, which we’ll get into in the end of the video - With a budget of 80 million dollars, he paints a beautifully crafted world split in two, with the West waging war against the East over a shadowy AI, rumoured to be the downfall of Humanity.

Our protagonist Joshua, a battle-hardened American soldier with more ghosts than a haunted house is on a mission Hunt down the AI threat. But what he discovers will force him to confront his past demons.

"The Creator" isn't your run-of-the-mill sci-fi action flick; it's a thought-provoking journey, loaded with heart and soul. Edwards brings a narrative that not only dazzles with its visuals but also strikes a chord with its themes, echoing real-world discussions on AI's burgeoning role in our lives.

Fun fact: none of the extras for the New Asia scenes were told who was playing a robot or a human, because Edwards wanted them to move and behave as naturally and casually as possible to highlight the harmony the two species have achieved there.

This movie actually caught me by surprise because the marketing for it didn't appeal to me. All the ads and snippets I had seen painted it in a different light than the actual film portrayed and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the visual spectacle that Edwards and the team put together.

Apocalypse Now, Akira, Blade Runner, Rain Man, The Hit, Baraka, ET, and Paper Moon were sources of inspiration for the film.

Amazing how they made this film on less than 90 million! It puts all the crap that Hollywood has put out over the recent years to shame. The CGI, story and acting was all great. This film should have done better than it did sadly.

I was under the impression that some of the robots were infact transhumanists. Flashed human consciousness imprinted onto a matrix. This is supported by the scene where they link the dead soldiers mind into the dead droid. And the awakening of the mother.

Idk why people say this movie was bad. The way you explained it, it sounds good

Tbh regarding A.I. I would be ok living in a world with them walking around the way they do in this. What makes me nervous regarding them is the humans who designed them and programmed them!! Because so long as the programming carries with it the responsibility and respect for all life and the will to do want to be a force for good in the world to protect all forms of life then things should be ok. It’s when you start making only A.I. for war and stuff that’s wrong

I’ve heard so many bad things about this movie. Many were the same issues with “Blade Runner.” I can see this becoming another beautiful and compelling movie just like the one that hugely inspired it. FCE has done another amazing job of not reviewing a movie but the storytelling of it..❤️

This was filmed in Ultra Pansvision, the same camera technique they used for BEN HUR 1959.

This movie wasn’t at good as I was expecting but the cinematography reminded me those movies made in the 80s and 90s where they used more props than CGI. I feel like we need more movies where CGI blends with real places creating worlds like this one. Worlds like Tron Legacy, Oblivion, Star Wars Rougue One. We should go back to real cinematography and not plane green and blue screen.

Should have gotten more recognition I feel. Doubt it, but man it would be cool exploring another chapter in this world. Appreciate the good content as always.

Even with it's flaws you can't deny that it's a technically magnificent film. Kinda like a mix between Star wars and District 9. I've read that they used sony cameras for this film, when I watched it there was a bit of noise whereas other that use arri for cameras smoothen that out. Visual effects are definitely incredible. I also love that it's original.

The trailers peaked my interest but when I saw the movie with my gf we were surprised how the movie turned out. We both loved it and the ending was sad but optimistic! I do wish they explored human and robot relationships in the world more. I was really invested in the story, visuals and the world. Def would watch more of this!

I loved this movie, it was a real tear jerker and I loved the story behind it. It was beautifully shot and well written and I was really excited about it being a new storyline we hadn’t seen before! I hope it inspires people to have faith in unknown stories and bring back movies that are fresh and interesting with storyline’s that are deep and compelling! I was excited to see you’d done a review on this movie Niyat 👌

I clicked on this because my man looks like Kawhi Leonard. Now I'm looking for this movie to watch. Thank you.

As someone said, “the fact this movie had a $80 million budget and looked this good should make companies like Marvel and DC (Looking at you The Flash) question where their budget is going.”
BIG FACTS

The scene during the bridge battle when they sent in the robot-soldiers to blow themselves up made me laugh so hard in the theatre.
Those human soldiers uploaded their brains into a robot just to sacrifice themselves seconds later.
It was a good movie. I liked it. That part was just unintentionally funny to me.

This is one of the greatest Sci-fi movies ever made!
It even has classic Western movie elements as well, with the main character protecting his young companion from those that want her destroyed.
