Russia says it is sending some troops back to base after drills

Russia's defence ministry says some of its troops are returning to base after carrying out drills near the Ukraine border. Nato's secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, says the alliance has yet to see 'real de-escalation' from Russia, but will continue to monitor the situation

So the forces it would take the longest to get to Ukraine if they went back to their bases are staying, the ones who are pretty close to the region anyway are leaving. Interesting. Wonder what this practice drill of surrounding Ukraine with 60% of their land forces was all for.

I get drills are important to solder training and alertness but why so close to a country that you previously attacked (Justified or not)
Especially if that country is getting close to the west Doesn't help with the sanctions
(If it did or didn't help that's up to yall)
It's still a dumb decision to almost break a 100 years of peace cuz of showing off your military prowess
(Doesn't help that the usa is pretty much split in and could do a rash decision )
