I HATE subscriptions!!! I’m trying to cut down on bills, not add to them. The only thing they make me do is ask myself: do I really need this? Usually I delete the app and never use it again.

This my first time visiting this site. I loved it ! You are unbelievably thorough, highly objective, and your voice and accent is great on the ears. Your comments regarding subscriptions is spot on. We must resist this move to force subscriptions on us. I refuse to join this bang wagon.

Thanks for this video.

I have to agree about the subscription model. It’s just not sustainable to pay an annual fee for every app I use, considering I might only use it once every two months.

Totally agree no subscription! I’ll keep my old pro app

Tried to speak to Readdle but they were no help and actually quite rude. Has anyone settled on an alternative yet? I’m weighing up a few and there are loads of options with better pricing and features. Any opinions on any of them will be welcomed. Thanks.

Why would I use a (paid) PDF app like this one and divide my work to multiple apps, when I can just import the PDF directly to GoodNotes 5 and annotate it right there ? Yes, it's true that the search function is really bad in GN5 for PDFs, but that's why I use Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) to keep some of my larger books (Like an Anatomy Atlas), while still having the option to annotate it however I want.

Agreed. Subscriptions are a pain. Especially when no features are regularly added.

AGREED‼️...🚫🚫🚫 to more subscriptions‼️

I don’t see why I need to pay a subscription. Sure, I’ll pay for the application but not a monthly or yearly.

Agree 100-percent with your opinion about subscriptions...an unfortunate trend with apparently little value in this case. Too bad...I like Readdle products.

I agree with you about the subscription model. For this app, paying a subscription doesn't make any sense. The app "Documents" by the same developer almost does the same for free. The only thing might be annoying is the writing experience (which is better in PDF Expert)

Ask for money on a major upgrade or version not a subscription. Most users will find a free/low/one-off cost alternative.

I like Enlight‘s Pixaloop approach: Options
You can choose to pay (for the pro features) on a monthly basis, yearly basis or purchase the app without any subscription needed.

Really cant deal with the subscription model and upgrading to version 7 might feel like i'm signing up for annoying ads telling me to subscribe

I just discovered your fantastic channel! And for someone like me, who doesn’t have PDF expert 6, this is a real bummer! The hyperlink capability is what I need and it’s the very feature that’s not available in the PDF Expert 7 free version. I would greatly appreciate a free PDF editor recommendation from you that offers the hyperlink capability without the hefty subscription fee! If anyone can find a good one, you can.

This subscription thing is a bummer...I entirely agree with you...If they would have been selling it for the same 20us$ then I will have definitely bought it as I think it’s worth it...Application is very nice but they must do away with this monthly or yearly subscription...Can I still buy pdf expert 6 plus in single payment or that one is over? Thank you...regards...

Wow. A lot to digest in 8 min. First, a bit of confusion too when I saw the upgrade. I also have (had) the PDF6+ version. So now I guess I have the PDF7 version (the stickers are available in the “Annotate” tab). So far, good since we did not (or won’t lose) what we’ve already paid for. Love your points on Subscription Model. We’re starting to suffer from Subscription Fatigue (storage, music, streaming, software, etc). NO interest whatsoever in paying for one. Prob is, it seems to be sustainable for Devs. Ready to pay for major upgrades every three years or so. NS2 and GN5 did that smoothly. Readdle is a superb iOS app company. Would hurt my workflow big time if I had to find alternatives. I don’t need their 3 pro (PDF6+ was “pro” too, right?) features, but we have to expect that, for $50+ a year, a lot more are coming - and won’t be available to non-subscribers. That will be brutal. New version, I haven’t tried it much (vacation!). But the interface looks good. Being reminded about pro features while using the app? Not a prob ... until there are features we really want - and don’t have.

The market will make the final decision, but at the end of the day people who develop apps need to have a vision for how to make money. For a long time it was silly little in-app ads and you can pay to turn them off. In the old software world, you paid “maintenance” or you paid for upgrades. Ropsie said it later in the review, people will pay for vale. My additional point is that people who create software for a living (including bug fixes) deserve to get paid vs. giving their software away. BTW, when Ropsie becomes a physician, she will be paid primarily via the subscription called health insurance...

I love subscriptions.
The only issue I find with PDF Pro is that its expensive. $50 for a year is a bit much.

Not a fan of subscriptions. I like your idea of paying for updates. Thank you for helping me go paperless.
