As a Hawaiian, I'm glad that we are still part of the US. While they did illegally annex us, that was over 100 years ago and many Hawaiians need to learn to move on as our culture is no longer as suppressed as it was back then. We are far better off being a state within the US than an independent nation. Not only do we get protection from the military, but we also benefit from America's massive economy. Furthermore, we also inherit American values, such as freedom of speech and religion. I couldn't be more proud to be a Hawaiian and an American 🇺🇸.

I do hope that one day Hawaii can regain it's independence, theres so much our country lost, and much that gets lost. I know how interdependent we are with the US but I'd be nice if we had more respect for our culture and land from the us government.

As a Hawaiian I hear people always complaining about the US annexing us but then I always think, this is one of the best outcomes. If we hadn't been a part of the US we'd either 1, be technologically behind because we don't have a lot of resources. 2, we'd be taken over by a worse country ruining the land more than America is doing. 3, been taken over by japan or other countries and lost WW2 and suffered greatly. So personally I like being a part of America
