Here’s 3 common mistakes beginner bassists make (and how to fix them)

Number 1: Neglecting the pinkie
The pinkie is the weakest finger and often causes a lot of buzzing when starting out. Therefore, many beginners choose to avoid using it. Don’t do that. Neglecting the pinkie leads to awkward hand positioning and limited flexibility. Instead, start incorporating your pinkie right away.

Number 2: Gripping the neck
Gripping the neck tightly makes it challenging to reach notes across the strings. Instead, make sure you have a nice gap between your palm and the neck. This will give you a lot more flexibility.

Number 3: Plucking upwards
Plucking upwards results in a thin tone and discomfort. Instead, pull across the strings when plucking. Your fingers are coming to rest on the next lower string or your thumb. This helps with muting and provides a fuller sound.

I'm so happy you're doing these, love all your covers, beautifully made! I picked up my bass again when I first saw your blue da ba dee one and these mini tutorials help a lot in getting cloaer to your technique view. Although, practicing slowly, God gimme the patience 🤣 and I know how off tempo and sloppy I can be because of that, of course 😅 Anyway, cheers man, keep em coming! ❤🎉
