Jonathan is such a good older brother. The fact that he could read Will's emotions while being stoned says a lot.

I feel sad for Will in seasons 3 and 4 'cause I feel like everybody ignores him. And that first scene in episode 8 with him and Mike is so heartbreaking. 🙁

I was tearing up when Will started crying in the car but when it cut to Jonathan watching his brother in the rear view mirror and trying not to cry is when I lost it. These two have such a good and realistic sibling dynamic. It’s easy to forget how much you care for each other until you see your sibling hurt

My goodness Will is just a real person. He went through so much these last few seasons and Jonathan finally being there for him definitely warmed my heart. Will definitely deserves to shine in season five.

Edit: Wow thank you guys so much for the likes!!

In a way this was the best way for Jonathan to find out his little brother is gay and to let Will know he knows without fully outing him. It was his way of saying “I know and I understand and it’s ok I love you no matter what”
It’s also a really important thing for Will to hear because it’s tough being gay in the 80s. It’s tough, it’s scary, it’s confusing. But really all he needed was for someone to give him a hug and tell him that it’s ok for him to be the way he is. Will Byers deserves the world ❤️

I really expected the camera to turn and for Argyle to be there like, sobbing "That was beautiful man..."

This scene really made me love Jonathan even more, I feel like he’s so underrated. He truly loves his brother so much! Charlie & Noah’s acting is phenomenal, you can actually feel the real brotherly love between them.

Jonathon is criminally underrated by fans! He is the most selfless, empathetic, kindest character in the whole show. His priorities have ALWAYS been to keep his loved ones safe, and to make sure they feel loved. He puts everyone else before himself, but he shouldn’t have to.
Will and Jonathon’s brotherhood is one of the BEST aspects of the entire show, and I wish everyone appreciated it more. I adore these two characters more than I can explain❤

I was about 13-14 in 1986 so I am roughly Will's age. Now there is representation and acceptance. Back in the 80's, being openly gay got you shunned, harassed, and a lot worse. I wish someone had told me this when I was 14. I had wonder what "was wrong" with me and then realizing that I could not be open about hurt worse.

Being something that you are not is a burden that gave me Depression and Anxiety. Self loathing as well. I tried to get an "adult job" and be the go getter etc. It just tanked my mental health.

So, about 20 years ago, I got a job at Tower Records. I finally decided to be myself because I had so many cool friends. I decided to just be myself. No need to come out. If you didn't see it, you were dense. I even got my best friend to give me "talk" like Johnathon gave to Will. And yes, I went home and cried because I had always wanted to hear that.

COVID had given my mental health a rough patch. I had always related to Will because I have always been shy and expressing myself is difficult. His arc has been subtle and well done. Realistic for the 80's.

Johnathon's speech to Will gave me an ugly cry and helped clear my head. Weird that a TV character helped me like that. My mind hasn't been this clear in years.

Jonathan said this right after he saw Will looking at Mike and El. He’s always known and the fact he just wants Will to be happy because he knows how upset he is is so sweet :)

As soon as Jonathan says..."and there is nothing in this world..." (re: loving his brother unconditionally)...Will's chest rises and falls much faster in realization that Jonathan is likely aware that he is gay. In that moment it's a staggering physical response of likely some blend of anxiety at finally being seen but also the confirmation that his brother will love him too and I can only imagine the emotions coursing through him. He obviously shies away from talking or addressing it directly with anyone and a good chunk of his fear probably stems from his father's emotional abuse and also the bullying he experienced. I like that Jonathan essentially gave him an out to not have to discuss it knowing how overwhelmed Will likely has been for awhile, he didn't mention relationships, or Mike...but the confirmation of total acceptance with no request for information is just a wonderful way of going about trying to console anyone who seems to be dealing with internalized homophobia. He didn't make the comments specific to any one aspect of Will's life...it's more than just touching upon one issue. But any issue that could be causing Will anxiety...currently or in the future. For a teen who has felt sort of left behind or almost forgotten in the last few seasons particularly, that must be such a relief to felt truly loved. Jonathan and Will are such awesome brothers.

I love how as soon as Jonathan notices his brother is sad he immediately tries cheering him up with a happy memory and a hug and doesn't try to push anything, only lets him know he's there for him no matter what. He's such a good brother ugh

You can just see that this is exactly what Will needed to hear. The relief in his eyes when Jonathan emphasizes that there is “nothing in this world” that would take away his love for his brother. So good.

Charlie and Noah absolutely own this scene. Completely perfect

So apparently, according to Noah Schnapp, this scene wasn't originally in the script. It came after they shot the van scene and saw Will crying and the look that Jonathan gave him in the mirror that they decided to do this. It was literally written while they were filming the show.

Today, we found out just how personal Will's story is for Noah himself. Congrats on Noah coming out today on Tiktok! Also, Jonathan is a really good brother- I hope we see more Will & Jonathan scenes in the final season.

God! I wish I had this older brother growing up. There’s so much I wanted to talk to someone about. Sometimes I still do. Powerful scene.
