The biggest reason why Magic Railroad is my favorite Thomas movie, is that the classic feel of Thomas is present here. Lost Treasure might be the better movie, but nothing can beat anything from the Classic Series for me, if that makes sense.

I absolutely love villains like Diesel 10. Very rarely would you ever see a villain who can be both intimidating and hilarious. He slaps himself in the face with his own claw in one scene, and then almost kills Mr conductor in another.

I've always said that Magic Railroad is the only Thomas movie that has real stakes in it. If you think about it, the stakes in the other movies are, "We need to restore an old engine before Sir Topham Hatt finds out, " or "We need to restore this old town before the big celebration day." And even, "We need to put aside our prejudices and work together, or else a fucking airport won't be built." But the stakes in this movie are much more serious. Thomas's whole existence is in trouble, Diesel 10 is trying to take over the Island, and quite possibly the world, and it's a race against the clock to solve the mysteries of the magic of Sodor and Shining Time before Diesel 10 wipes everyone out. And I kinda love it for that reason alone.


Now, dont get me wrong, I love some of the other Thomas movies, but this was the only one that had me worried that Thomas was going to die, maybe only second to Day of the Diesels.

This is why I like TAMOC (Toby and the multiverse of Madness) made by Percy and the Beast productions, Diesel 10, especially in a fan-project setting is so fun to watch! He actually kills James, and it feels in character!

Something I've never understood about this movie is the fact that Diesel 10 wants to destroy Lady, the engine keeping the other engines and Sodor alive, wouldn't that mean destroying her would make Diesel 10 not exist anymore? Unless there's a magical diesel named "Man"

Great review on Magic Railroad. I like it as it is, especially Diesel 10 as a great evil diesel villain. Thomas was fine in CGI during the Brenner era where he's in character with his cheekiness retained and his pricklier and big-headed sides are very good in Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure which Andrew Brenner captures them perfectly. Thomas looks good in CGI style which can do things the model series can't do. Both Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure and the Great Discovery were both good movies for good reason and were never stale with the stories and excitement. The music in SLOTLT is great due to how cinematic it is. You may disagree but I hope you understand what I'm saying regardless.

Excellent defense, dude! 👍 Personally, while I understand why some people dislike the film, but I think it’s over-hated; and besides, I mostly blame the test audience for the movie’s failure, not Britt Allcroft. In other words, I still like Thomas and the Magic Railroad despite its flaws.

Well... Magic railroad is an interesting movie

For me it's the most interesting production movie or even interesting production from the entire show ever


Always found so fascinating what they changed

Do I think it's the best movie? I don't know why I haven't watched all of them and magic railroad? it been a long
time

Although I don't like the magic, the fact that sodor is a pocket dimension, it conflicts everything what the show was established before

And it was definitely what probably triggered the beginning of the franchise downfall (not to mention how after this movie I'm going to bed at everyone just looks down upon so much friends and Thomas continent in general)

This movie has a warm feeling to watch

Something that all the movies probably don't have (probably)

I'm also fine with the movie if it wasn't for the pocket dimension thing

And to be fair even if the movie was the begging of the end it doesn't make it a terrible watch we've seen wars and that's all that matters

It's great watch (probably)

I can only hope that if the mark Foster Thomas movie would come out

It can be as of a joyride as this one is

I personally dont like this movie for a couple reasons.

1. The plot is so horrendous that im surprised Britt even agreed on it. Having real people in a movie where the show has static figures feels off.

2. The magic elements to this movie dont make sense and contradict the realism of the show, basically telling us "theres a magic engine that gives the engines faces to talk".

And finally 3. It lost what made thomas so special to kids in the forst place. Kids were drawn to it BECAUSE it was different than any other 80s kids shows at the time.

Ik the points i made were from Unlucky Tug, but he has good points that should be addressed. If you or anyone else likes this movie, thats fine but me personally, id rather watch Sodor Legends of the Lost Treasure.
