Steaming milk does not break down lactose, don’t spread misinformation. By steaming milk you’re raising its temperature, which makes the sweet notes more perceivable, and that’s all.

Lactose pyrolises at 200⁰c so no you can not break down the lactose in milk to make it sweeter or easier to digest

Put a pinch of salt. It helps with the bitterness ( I’m coffee milk exclusive drinker and that helped me a lot to reduce the amount of sugar I put in my coffee )

Ok i tried this technique and it is very counter productive. I made an iced biscoff latte using this and when i tried to cool down the milk I ended up using too much ice to cool it off because the milk jaut melted the ice away and my coffee ended up watered down. Don't recommend you try this. (Sorry Ethan)

Milk is sweetest at 37°C. Plus, aint no way you're breaking it down into simple sugars you would have to burn your fingers to crispy meatsticks to do that. Just shake the latte with ice and you have yourself a foamy, great tasting latte

Not sure who to believe, the people who says that steaming milk doesn't break down lactose or the few articles I found by coffee and barista sites that says it does break down the lactose into sugars. I mean whatever I am lactose intolerant anyways I always choose plant based milks but at least I can assume there's less lactose if the milk gets steamed

Alternatively making your milk too hot will have an opposite effect. Another option would be to just use sweetener. Steaming milk to cool it down is very counter productive. Nobody in any cafe should ever do this for too many reasons

Just buying lactose free milk will achieve the same effect, it's why those milk options always taste sweeter than ordinary milk :P

Froth it with a French press. This way, you don't even have to warm it up and cool it down with ice cubes 😊

I was about to ask if this meant that people with lactose intolerance can have it but the comments answered my questions and that is a big fat no. But this probably would be good if I made this with oat milk but I wonder how that would taste. I don't really use Dairy for my coffee anymore except for occasions when I use lactose-free milk and instead for the most part I use some oat milk which it tastes just as good in my opinion. I do like soy milk but I like the taste of oatmeal better with my coffee.
