It's almost hard to believe it's close to a full year since the BlackBerry servers shut down and left us out in the cold. I take a look back at my BlackBerry Passport to think about all the good times we had. How have you been faring without BlackBerry? Have you moved on or are you still holding out? One year without BlackBerry...

Thanks for still talking BlackBerry Steve! Fortunate here in Canada 3G active and a Classic continues to be my only phone. Works like a charm for email and text, especially with the form factor and keyboard. As you’ve said many times before, Blackberrys felt/feel right.

There are more sites rejecting whatever the Classic and its browser last had for security and the like, but I’ve loaded the last good working APK’s for Chrome and Firefox and they get me connected most of the time. Not a heavy streamer or social media user, so text only news sites are perfect. Took a cue from folks at Crackberry that the last working Facebook Lite APK works best.

As you noted, battery life is outstanding and the Classic’s slim profile fits anywhere. Ready to move on to whatever when the time comes, but the old girl still brings a smile as I quickly pound out a text. Best this season to you, and as always, much appreciate all your content. Steve

Really love your content! I have a blackberry museum at home with a Z10, Z30, passport, priv, and playbook, and every time I see a video like this I always pick one of the devices to play with for a few days. I still haven't found anything that can chunk through email better than my Z30 or passport.

I'm still using my Key2 and occasionally my Priv. The key2 still holds up pretty good spec wise. But I'm with you I really wish a new BlackBerry device was on the horizon, maybe something will happen sometime with another company that wants to give the keyboard a try.

YouTube randomly recommended this with no prior history and I think in some ways a spiritual kind of successor to the blackberry is the Galaxy fold. Large (digital:/) keyboard with a square ish display inside, great for reading and productivity that folds down to a 'standard' phone for normal use.

Blackberry still alive in my heart. Holding on to my Blackberry Classic now but now tempted to get back on my Blackberry Passport now haha.

In the Philippines, what's still working are:

- Internet (Browser and Kiwi)
- VLC
- WhatsApp
- Telegram
- Messenger
- Blackberry Hub, Gmail

In so many words, Blackberry still lives on!

Hi Steve I’m from South Africa & I’m a big fan of Blackberry device currently using Blackberry Q10 my Facebook & Messenger lite are still working properly that includes WhatsApp, sms, emails, calls etc. thanks for the Blackberry clips

I find it so strange that the US is advancing towards the complete shutdown of 2G & 3G services so fast. In Europe most are keeping it active till 2030 or so depending on the country. The UK is keeping 2G active even longer than that 😅 It feels like the US has had such a short time to ‘change over’ 😢

Oversea viewer here. Whatsapp stopped working more than 2 years ago. I was forced to update, but no apk was able to install.

I have a blackberry passport and it works with android playstore, WhatsApp and more.

since i have the bold 9700, i think it would only be able to do phone calls and text messaging with phone data which is fine because i actually needed a phone that just makes calls and messaging. i just hope it works just fine because, i dont have a card for it :)
