These are seriously the BEST vegan black bean burgers I’ve ever eaten—and I’m not usually a huge fan of veggie burgers! They’re amazingly savory & flavorful, and they don’t fall apart like most homemade bean burgers do. (Even though they’re gluten-free & egg-free!)
I’ll walk you through how to make black bean burgers with only 4 ingredients: canned black beans (or any beans), rolled oats, salsa, & grated carrot (plus some salt). You can pan-cook them on the stovetop or bake them in the oven. Either way, you’ll end up with tender-yet-sturdy vegan burger patties that are perfect for enjoying on a bun!
Whether you’re vegan or just looking for plant-based burger options, this is a great DIY veggie burger to try. You get to choose the type of beans, you don’t need an egg as a binder (unlike many other recipes), and they’re gluten-free since they’re made with oats (unlike many store-bought options).
But store-bought veggie burgers can ALSO be nutritious & convenient meal options, even though some contain more processed ingredients. We don’t HAVE to make homemade veggie burgers from scratch to be “healthy”—especially if choosing a premade option can reduce our stress. Remember to lighten up on yourself & give yourself permission to choose whatever is most supportive for YOU!
