This is fantastic news! I'm 51 and had my left hip replaced 5 years ago. Wear has been a concern for me because I'm a martial artist/kickboxer, runner and I do a lot of hiking. I was told at the time that the new HXPE inserts were so good that they didn't know how long they would last. But knowing that even at a high impact and activity level, it will likely last the rest of my life definitely allows me more confidence.

Thank you for uploading this video. I'm 40, active in impact sports, and in need of a THA. This gives me hope that my life as I've known it isn't over.

The best of the best. Thank you Dr Yun. I am 3 months recovered from my hip replacement. If I had known how effortless your procedure was to recover from I would have had this surgery years ago. Thank you for the gift of your big brain and skilled hands.

Thank you so much Dr. Yun. I live in Japan and had hip replacement done here in 2019. Before the surgery I was told it would last 15 years. After that, sharing experiences with an American friend who had the same surgery, was surprised to hear that he was told his would last a lifetime. I was 65 in 2019 and my friend had his surgery a couple years before mine. I recently came across your video by chance, after which I started to look into the reason why my friend was told a lifetime and I was told 15 years. My artificial hip is made in USA and I discovered that its liner too is cross-linked polyethylene. But surgeons here in Japan are still advising patients according to pre-XLPE times. You can imagine what a relief it is to know my hip too will likely last as long as I do.

Good info. Had TRH in 2007 poly cup ceramic ball titanium stem. Was surprised back then some of the Dr were still wanting to put metal on metal I said no thanks. So today 2023 need my left hip done the X-ray's show the right hip implant looks great still 16years later. Now I am 80yo and plan on living another 20years. Choice o f surgeon is number one choice of implant number two.

Thank you for this presentation Dr Yun. I'm very young to be facing a hip replacement and it's some comfort to hear (with studies to prove it) that the materials are much better these days. I'm sure it's routine for you (which is an amazing thing in itself), but this is a pretty major life decision that those of us with hip issues must face.

A plastic part for a hip implant should work too. My kitchen mixer has food grade plastic gear or two inside and its going strong after 13 years. A few automobiles had plastic or nylon timing gears as well. It wasn't great but they functioned awhile.

This was so well explained.
I've been resesrching extensively for my hip repair and this is ghe first time I ran across such a detailed explanation.
Now, if I could only find the best surgeon for this in NJ I might find the nerve to become a bionic man.
