Take a walk in the footsteps of famous pirate Jean Lafitte as we walk the site of his home location on Galveston Island.
The visible ruins are from a home that was built a century ago on top of the buried remains of Lafitte's homesite, but some exposed red brick hints of the historic remains lying beneath your feet.
Rumor has it that this site is frequently visited by ghostly orbs and disembodied voices. Perhaps Lafitte is reaching out from beyond the grave, voicing the location of an unclaimed buried treasure nearby!

The ruins are NOT of Jean Laffitte’s house.. I don’t know what the sign says but it’s hard to believe that it would say that it is the ruins of Laffitte’s house. However, those ruins are on the site of Laffitte’s house which he destroyed when he left Galveston. The ruins that are now on the site are that of the home of sea captain F.W. Hendricks. He built the home in about 1870 which was about 50 years after Lafitte destroyed his house on the same spot. Captain Hendricks’s how was torn down in the 1950s and what you see is the remains of his house.

This is not his Red House/fort, it is the concrete foundation of a 1870 later business built on the site, now a ruin . The fort and house were burnt in 1820s and a storm later scattered most remains .

Very cool! How did you get in? Isn't there a fence around it? Or is the fence in the front only?

At 3:28, to the right, there are cement rocks on the ground. I can't tell but is that for a fountain?
