That makes sense why Cal can speak to BD1 since he was a scrapper for most of his life

It's a lot like how you can start to understand what your pets are trying to communicate to you. You just get to know them and pay attention.

Chopper is the one droid in Star Wars that speaks binary and the words are so clear that you can almost hear them

I'm pretty sure most of you already know this but there's a deleted scene from ROTS where Anakin literally speaks droid language. It's hilarious af. 😂

Chopper is like the only astromech you can understand. Once you pick up on the rhythm, it's almost like muffled English. He swears a lot btw

Rey didn’t get an education and she spent like 2 years with a droid

i remember that one deleted scene where anakin just starts making droid noises

That last part is not too accurate since Luke also understands R2 without the built in translator of the X wing. That's likely only because of the fact that sound is not conveyed in space and R2 is docked to the Droid socket of the X wing.

Anakin could _sort of_ understand Artoo. We see him debating the mean of Artoo's "words" with Obi-Wan in a deleted scene from Episode III. (I don't know if the cartoon retconned that; it's dubiously canon in my personal Star Wars canon. Everybody has their own personal canon, based on what they like or could do without.)

Rey can fluently speak droid and Wookiee and probably every other language because she's not a character and is instead a template for young fans to project themselves upon, like Bella in the Twilight series, and thus has the superpower of *meta* in her arsenal. She can interact with the Star Wars universe literally without any limitation because her abilities come, not from her in-universe history and experience, but from marketability and branding.

At this point I straight up understand every beep from the droids in Star Wars, it’s so clear and obvious what they are saying, despite me not actually being able to understand what it is they are saying. Kinda like how I can understand my dog through her body language, barking, and other random noises.

Pretty sure Luke can also understand Binary too, but the only reason he was using that screen was because he can’t hear R2-D2 due to the vacuum of space that separates the droid from the cockpit.

I love Chopper's binary. He puts a lot of feeling into those noises. And I love that cackle he does when he's making trouble.

Chopper in ahsoka, he’s pretty understandable. Could have a chopper series with just him and I’d understand that shi

Fun fact Lucas mad sure that R2-D2 was actually saying something unique in this language for all 6 films he made

When Disney took over they shit all over this legacy by using recordings from other movies. The time I spent learning the language completely invalided
