How much truck do you really need? Take a serious look and you might find that the 2021 Honda Ridgeline is perfect for you and your lifestyle. We recently put one to the test when we towed a Honda Talon 1000X-4 out to the desert for some fun. It handled the job perfectly, and then we decided to have fun out there in the Ridgeline too.

My dad drives a 2017 Ridgeline RTL-T that he bought new in 2017 now with 90k miles & has held up well so far. He paid around $36k which has been a great truck for the money with an amazingly smooth ride, agile handling & a great sounding & very powerful V6 engine. Overall a huge improvement over his previous 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

I test drove one last week.
LOVED IT!!
Exactly what I need.
The HPD package should include a leveling kit and some real all-terrain tires.

Honda supply chain: " We have a ton of old Element fenders in stock. Any ideas what to do with them?"
Honda Marketing:" the Ridgeline HPD."

I've have a 18 ridgeline RTL-E that I'm looking to trade in soon. I work on a mine site and do regular muddy off roading. I'm constantly having to get my tires balanced and allignment. and my front lighting went out twice because the mud got into the wiring cables and shorted it out. So I'm done.

For the average user, it's a GREAT mid sized truck. Just not for me. I put a 2" lift on it, looks better and gave me some clearance.

Idk, that $2, 800 HPD option appears pricey. For that kind of money you could get a lot more performance and better looks with aftermarket components.

Enjoyed the vid. Overall, a great option for truck buyers. I didn't know you could get the off road package in a RTL-E, or did I hear that incorrectly?

A swiss army knife it may be but it misses the Rrr in truck. I heard the 9 soeed is chasing gears in the city driving..

It's an improvement looks wise. Looks more like a truck and might pull some mid size buyers. Little expensive but at least it'll be reliable and hold its value well. I don't hate it but it's not for me.

What about aftermarket accessories and commitment to platform (10 year+ runs of same general part intrrchangeability). Toyota beats it in both of those by a mile and even though both engines are very reliable... a truck needs a 4x4 option.

Wish they had a hybrid, the new f-150 with it's own power plant in the bed is hard to beat and yes it is not a mid size truck.

When an F150 is only an inch wider, 10 inches longer (for comparable configuration, ) and gets similar mileage but way more utility for a similar price...can you honestly blame buyers? Seriously a 4x4 F150 2.7T gets 19/24 city highway compared to the ridgelines 18/24. They start at the same price but you'll better deals on a full size and the F150 is SO much more truck for the money utility-wise for being only marginally bigger. In the end, the only real tangible benefit to the Ridgie is the smooth ride and the fact that it's not made by Ford. It's not that I don't like the ridgeline, Its a great execution of its concept. If ride, handling, and being different are high up on your truck buying needs, it's a great choice.

Honestly, If they could bring the towing up to at least midsize standards, reviewers would need to devote less of their script time with the same talking points about "real trucks". Payload is good, it handles a 5000 lb load just as well as any midsize, but it doesn't give buyers any overhead. 4000-6000 lbs loaded is the sweet spot for loads in this lifestyle truck range and being maxed out isn't a place most truck buyers are comfortable with.
