"It should be replaced, but I just need it to start." Says everyone at 7 late for work

- Or, you could turn it in to the car dealership's service department, be without a car for a few days, get your battery changed, your starter motor replaced, "system tuning", and whatever else they can spice the bill with, plus labor, and a bill of $2000 or more. Chris, these videos are fantastic, and super helpful!

As someone who runs a parts store, it's incredibly nice to have videos like these to point people to so they can start feeling more comfortable with DIY. Always so clear and concise, I watch your videos just for fun half the time. I even find myself saying "out with the old, in with the neeew" from time to time lol

When I was younger (18 yrs old, I'm 73 now), I spent most of a morning trying to get my old 52 Chevy started so the girlfriend and I could take a day trip.. Tightened the terminals, cleaned the terminal ends, cleaned the cables, charged the battery, even replaced the starter solenoid. It ended up being corrosion had traveled UNDER the battery cable insulation where it wasn't visible. After replacing in cables, everything was hunkydory :-) I'll never forget that day and the lesson

Interesting a car repair without an old man yelling at me and trying to sell me a Toyota.

I’ve been dealing with this off & on for a while and just now realized the cable definitely is corroded. Thanks 😊

Chris your video could not have been more timely. My 2003 Impreza was experiencing this exact problem: lights on dash come on but the car just clicks and doesn’t turn over. I followed your advice this morning and it works! My car started up! Thank you so much Chris! You’re a lifesaver!

The best part of your channel is the very Slow but Clear directly focused explanations. No extra unneeded comments or noise that may confuse people. The common everyday tools along with good editing and sound and focus on the task not yourself. I like the HOME IMPROVEMENT hidden face of the neighbor style you adopted with your helmet if you run the risk of being seen in vehicle reflection or riding with your friends, family or other YouTube’s.
Great job keep it up

This is weird because I just literally had a no-crank issue exactly like this and it was caused by my positive cable's bolt being oddly stripped. The threads on it were just smooth. It's a side post battery, which is what I meant by "bolt, " because it screws in to the battery. I bought some replacements at Autozone.

Thank you so much Chris. My car been doing that for a month and didn’t know why. The first time it doesn’t start but the second time it does. God bless you my brother

A little encouragement to the ladies: I recently went through this with my mother's car; however her terminals had to be completely replaced. After not finding my parts at Auto Zone I was told to let someone with experience do it. I didn't get angry and fire off on the guy I politely said thanks and went to my car's dealership and bought the parts I needed. Don't be discouraged because someone else doesn't believe in your abilities. Only God knows what HE put inside of you. Get knowledge and understanding and go forward with your projects.

Watching these videos over the years has made me value old but well built and reliable cars. New cars now scare me. Instead I hold onto my cars and maintain them, learning about them inside and out. Having knowledge of how my car was put together makes it invaluable to me. Thanks Chris!
