Pokémon Journeys: The Series is the eighth part of the anime series. It features all of the regions from the main-series games, including the Generation VIII games Pokémon Sword and Shield. This series shares its Japanese name with the original series when the anime first premiered in 1997, and is officially labeled with "2019", the year this series started in, for disambiguation. This new series focuses on the two protagonists Ash Ketchum and Goh, along with their partners Pikachu and Cinderace. It also features a young girl named Koharu (Chloe), who has a Yamper, and her father, Professor Sakuragi (Cerise), who runs a laboratory in Vermilion City. It features all the regions that have appeared in the Pokémon games, from Kanto to Galar. Pokémon from each region will also appear while Ash is pursing Leon in the Pokemon World Coronation Series (PWC) and Goh is chasing his dream in Project Mew.

The Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games, the newest chapters in the Pokémon series, are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. With these new titles, the Pokémon series takes a new evolutionary step, allowing you to explore freely in a richly expressed open world of the Paldea Region in the 9th Generation of Pokemon. Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the street all over! He basically became a Pokémon Master ever since the very beginning, he been befriending Pokémon left and right and been saving the world on top of that. Ash is a hero not just a Pokémon Master.

Honestly, I love his definition of a pokemon master, and this mini-series really showcased it for Ash. A lot of fans have only expected it to mean the Best at battling, and having all the super strong pokemon, but that doesn't matter to Ash. Sure, he likes good battles, but what he loves is Pokemon. Not catching them, but just meeting them, and living a good life among them.

I think a Pokemon Master is someone who has a deep understanding/bond and connection to Pokemon that is considered impossible to get or extremely difficult. Most trainers never fully achieve due to various circumstances.

One of these is that’s it’s not really an official title by the league and can sometimes be used for arbitrary convenience. (Like self proclaimed titles) but to be a true Pokémon Master, it must be earned not given if a trainer and others (Pokemon included) believe they have earned it.

Winning a league and becoming champion is considered the first step to becoming one because it shows how well one has trained, raised, and bonded with their Pokemon.

That’s my take on it anyway.
