been commuting to work by bicycle for the past 2 years and the bike paid itself off within the first year. It's so fun and saves at least $1000 per year on transport, not to mention all the health benefits. Love your videos!!

as a long time commuter cyclist, your advise is spot on and articulate! Cycling is neither a car or a pedestrian.. ride thru the city using the neighbourhood's paths, pcns, small roads, large roads, trails... I commute from the north to either CBD or Clementi. To the CBD is 50% pcn, 40% road, and 10% cutting thru small roads. To Clement 30% pcn, 20% road, 50% rail corridor. The times are comparative to taking public transport (as i got fitter). Also, I stopped worrying about rain.. only ever got caught in heavy rain around 4-5 times in a year. :) Love your channel!

I did an exchange at NTU for a semseter, and I bought a bike while I was there. It made exploring amazing and helped me so much more connected to the island.

I share your thoughts. Drove a car for 30 years and swapped for a foldie 2+ years ago. Now I find any excuse to go to my client or social meetings using my bicycle or MRT/bus + bicycle! It's also a fun talking point as many people are still intrigued by foldies.

Excellent video! Cycling for everyday life not just sport. Nice to see young people live this way. 😊

A comprehensive video that covers both the practical and intangible. Thank you!

Wonderful video presentation with great video work. It was so immersive it felt like an open world video game. Makes me want to visit Singapore just to roleplay as a citizen and cycle about!

Cycling is my favourite way of travelling around Singapore. It’s fun, free, keeps you fit and you can park anywhere!

After owning my fair share of bicycles (road, hybrid) I highly recommend a Brompton bicycle for Singapore riding. It is nimble, easy to manoeuvre on the pavements, comfortable and easy to fold to bring on buses/trains. And there exists a lot of accessories for it.

Biking in light to moderate rain is actually really therapeutic. But you've gotta be sure of your bike handling skills and play it safe at all times.

In Vietnam or Japan, early morning. Having coffee and seeing all children cycling to school is a blissful experience. Btw, find time to try once Shimanami Kaido, bike or hike over all bridges and islands.

Fellow cyclist! I cycle so much to and from places with my foldable bike I find myself having to replace the inner tubes regularly. Other than that, cycling has made me more productive and appreciate nature more.

One thing I really wish tho is for SG to reduce the number of lanes on major roads (I'm looking at you Geylang and Serangoon), and replace them with bike paths. Imagine being able to cycle there with less stress.

Keep up the awesome videos!

Really lovely video! The shot of you maneuvering one handed are so impressive. I don't need to go to the office for work often, but a bike would be nice for commuting for lunch and such. Now to find good foldable bike reccs and maintainence guides...

Greetings from KL, thanks Vereck for great sharing in this short and concise video, tips for South East Asia. I commute 60km a week, twice a week from Taman Desa to KLCC return trip of 24km,
Finding routes is challenging at first, "Cycling is neither a car or a pedestrian." initially use google map adapting routes for walking, motorcycle and bus route ... some back lanes are nice to cycle, no cars, less pollution.
After long commute if no shower facilities, a mini towel to sponge off sweat and cool down before changing helps a lot. Agree that cycling and active mobility is the way forward ... good aerobic exercise and mental 'meditation' cheers and looking forward to more videos good to see Vereck in light colour clothes when cycling ... A very nice video that's really tempting me to get a bike for myself!

Some questions from this person here contemplating to bike commute (perhaps you could address some of these as future content? :))
1. Unlike cars which have well established parking lots, how and where do people usually park their bicycles? Is a foldable bike the way to go?
2. What are some noteworthy brands in each price bracket and what should we look for in a bicycle? You mentioned briefly about having a bike thats fitted to your needs but i'm kinda lost with all the options out there LOL. Most videos online are tailored for overseas terrain and distances so I don't know how relevant those would be to Singapore's context.
3. How do you usually plan your route? Are there specific apps that do this better than Google Maps?

Thank you for sharing your passion for bike commuting!
