I’ve been carrying a syringe for about 2 years to lower my heart rate. I was given this strategy at the ER when my HR was over 200. Neat to see it here!

Had SVT in 2006 at age 16. Scary six months . Not life threatening for the most part. HR got to 250+ a few times and it’s quite scary. Had a catheter ablation done same year . Instant relief.

This is great comfort and satisfaction when a patient recovers from his or her critical health condition especially when in ER. I love the profession of being a doctor to help, similar experiences I have had in my life several times with SVT, AFib, Atrial Flutter.

That was really interesting. Glad the doctor kept him in for observation in view of his history.

This happened to me. It worked a few times but in the end, I needed a simple operation and I've never had any issues again.

I am 17 years old and I have got SVT around 7 months ago with a HR above 200-220. Scariest day of my life so far. I got sedated and they gave me medication (adenosine) to reduce my heart rate. I am glad that I tolerated it reasonably well, but I don't know if it will ever happen again.

Dr. Austin is very cool. Explained in very simple manner.

You can do the same thing just by sitting and straining like you’re taking a dump. Vagus nerve stimulation.

I have watched videos of UK people who serve people. I love how they react, respond and treat people with respect, dignity and think through how they talk and keep things so calm. Here in America our service people escalate situations with people. We call our police bullies with a badge. Badge abusers because they have killed so many people and still allowed to work or just suspended after killing a person. They also react in seconds injuring people because the cops attack a person instead of deescalating by communicating properly. They are trigger happy with a gun, or suffocation under weight of cops and die. The thin blue line of protection with the cops.

Thanks for this information. The MULLER MANEUVER, which is trying to INHALE rather than PUSH against a blocked airway (the Valsalva maneuver), works far better for me. Over 40 years and many SVT episodes, I used to always try the Valsalva maneuver and it often didn't work - I had to go to the ER several times and get Adenosine. But several years ago I discovered the Muller maneuver and it works every time (sometimes I have to do it more than once). It's a weird feeling to lower your intrathoracic pressure, but it's worth the discomfort. Hope this helps someone!

I had this heart manouvre done to me a few weeks ago, took a bus from the office & walked into A&E with a fast heartbeat, the ECG showed 191, poor nurse looked like she had seen a ghost, a porter with a wheelchair took me striaght through to rapid treatment. The procedure worked, but the heartbeat soon went up again. Hurray for medication, did the trick! (Bisoprolol). My Kardia device told me there was a problem, but it took my A&E visit to get it investigated. The heart was fine when I was wearing the heart monitor. Took the bus back afterwards! Certainly a wake up moment.

This is no joke. I've had SVT my entire life (I'm 51). I've used this technique many times along with many ER visits. I was finally diagnosed with Afib and AVRNT. I'm finally having a cardiac ablation next week. And yes, alcohol is a major contributor but not the only one.

I've got SVT. I was taken to a&e with a heart rate of 255 per min, they tried everything but nothing worked, they had to stop and start my heart. It was crazy, I can never forget that feeling. I was 22 years old. I had to ablations ( I think that's what they call it) I'm 39 now and I still have palpitations but nowhere near as bad.
