Flat clear matter? Or would the pearl or regular clear work just as well?

What happens when you put flatt and then you want to paint gloss over it doesn't it just cancel out the flat makes it seem flat my pro tip would just be used the blue painters tape I think it's made by duck brand if you were going to ask me I would say get a good razors edge knife or exto knife and some good painting tape thin layers it really doesn't matter if you paint it all like crap because it goes through the inside and whenever you take off the tape it's going to look good as long as you back in white or silver are just a background color TS hard bodies PS laxan I might have to try this one out

Or just use decent timeline tape, masking tape will bleed at the edge.
