On Britain’s got talent there was a one legged dancer which got a golden buzzer and got the finals. He came fourth and lost to a guy which would run around the stage and take off high visibility jackets. I am proud of the British public for defying the producers

I still remember the old seasons when the judges were able to give constructive criticism without the audience instantly boo-ing and shutting them up. Modern seasons just feel like a talent-mill, eliminating all but 2 acts each night and jumping all the way to the finale. We don't really see performers growing over weeks and blossoming into stars, it's all just instant-entertainment at the cost of the acts and the contracts they have to sign to be on the show.
