Oh My GOD this is SO CRINGE !!! A "Wi-Fi booster" is a BAND-AID and NOT a solution. What if you already have FULL SIGNAL from the Wi-Fi from this Arris DG1670 because everyone using it is in the same room with it and the unit can't even handle three people using it at the same time? Because that's exactly the same situation that one of my friends is dealing with. It's also not "2.4 hertz" and it's not "5 hertz". It's 2.4 Giga Hertz and 5 Giga Hertz. Pronounce it out. I deal with people every day who inadvertently get themselves and others around them confused between 5Ghz (Giga Hertz) and 5G (Fifth Generation Cellular) because they're being careless and lazy when understanding and talking about technology. 5Ghz and 5G cellular are different technologies.

Humans have so much capacity for superficiality and it's been unresolved for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. Ancient humans believed that the sun was God and today's humans think that Wi-Fi is only about signal strength. You people need to understand that networking is about data logistics and signal strength is only a part of the data delivery endeavor. Think of a plumbing system as a metaphor. You can have a pipe that is open to move as much water as you need and this is like having signal strength with your Wi-Fi. However, if the pumps in the plumbing system don't keep up with your need for water through the pipes, then you don't get the water you need when you need it, and that is what the processors inside of Wi-Fi routers do with your data.

My friend has the 200 megabits per second data plan from Spectrum as do I at my house. He has this piece of junk Arris DG1670 who's only redeeming quality is that it looks like a wannabe PlayStation 3 game console. My friend at his house has his PlayStation 4 plugged into this piece of junk Arris DG1670 at the desk where the Arris DG1670 sits, his fiancee is watching videos on her phone while using the Wi-Fi from the Arris DG1670 sitting within 5 feet of the Arris DG1670 in the same room with it, and I'm sitting next to both my friend and his fiance in the same room with the Arris DG1670 as I'm using the Wi-Fi to play Ultra Street Fighter 2 on my Nintendo Switch. I am 6 feet away from the Arris DG1670 with a clear line of sight to it and can see the blinking lights on it while I'm sitting in the chair playing Nintendo Switch and my gaming is like a slide show. The processor was so weak in the Arris DG1670 and couldn't keep up with three people using it. Gaming doesn't require a lot of data by today's standards but it is very time sensitive in regards to the delivery of the data.

When a device needs the data from the network such as your Wi-Fi router through the modem, then IT NEEDS IT NOW or else it will lag because gaming and video conferencing are examples of REAL-TIME data needs. My game was going along at several seconds in between each frame because that cheap junk Arris DG1670 is more basic than the cheapest Chinese engine oil filter. The performance of that Arris DG1670 is bad enough to be purchased from Wish.com. I was wanting to do Mortal Kombat fatalities on my friend's Arris DG1670 and a Wi-Fi range extender "booster" will only make a person even more angry because then you'll have absolute 100% Wi-Fi signal strength and then have extra repeater unit delay latency added on top of this Arris DG1670's terrible performance.

I mean, if you hate someone really bad and want to make them angry at you along with making life worse for everyone involved, then by all means please recommend this Arris DG1670 and at least three of those really cheap Wish.com Wi-Fi range extenders. Arris is not a bad company. But you got to understand that although Arris does make some good products, every Residential Gateway is a modem and Wi-Fi router combined into a single unit and the only thing good about them is that they save space and reduce clutter. They're a bad idea. Every one of these that I ever seen in my three and a half years as a networking equipment expert at a retailer, is a unit in which it might have a decent modem in it, or even a really good modem in it, but they cut corners on the cost of the Wi-Fi performance.

What is going on with these tech reviewers and their lack of experience or expertise? I talk to no less than 20 customers each week at my job who have trouble with the junk Wi-Fi equipment that their Internet Service Provider has given them to use and the first two things these people look for is Wi-Fi range extenders that they nickname as "boosters" and they look for Ethernet splitters. This is SO CRINGE. I solve complex networking needs for serious customers and I tell them that Mesh Wi-Fi is an actual solution to their Wi-Fi trouble. Yeah you're going to have to shell out some money but you get what you pay for and only serious people seek solutions. Cheapskates don't deserve solutions because they choose not to listen to good advice and they're too cheap to pay for a solution anyway. I've heard, "that's more than I'm willing to pay" far too many times each week at my job.

The processors, memory, Wi-Fi radio controllers, and the software in even the basic dual-band Eero Mesh Wi-Fi systems are still miracle working Wi-Fi routers and solve a lot of people's problems. Most people only need to spend $250 on a three pack of Eero in order to work miracles to solve their Wi-Fi needs. Those Eero Mesh Wi-Fi routers are also really simple to setup too. If a person can't get an Eero setup, then I question if their brain is developed enough to even control basic heart and lung functions. Of course in my house I have an ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi router while using even the basic 200 megabits per second speed plan from Spectrum that my friend also has at his house and I don't have all of these Wi-Fi problems that other people have. I got this because I want to make sure that I get all of the speed that I'm paying for and I want to make sure that my Amazon Prime video doesn't have problems while my security cameras are going at the same time and while my kids are on their tablets.
