As soon as I see the original Casio faceplate I'm transported back to that exciting time in the 1980's when you went straight to the watches section in a newly published issue of an Argos catalogue. Lovely, simpler times.

I wonder if they will add some form of milling to the case so that you can transfer the rubber gasket from the original to give it a bit of resistance

My Dad and I bought and wore a lot of digital Casio and Seiko watches throughout the 80's. I still love them!! In fact, my daily watch ia a G Shock 5610U. Modding Casios is so much fun. I mean when is the last time you ever heard the word fun used in relation to say someething like a Patek Phillipe or A. Lange and Sohnne? ;D

The silver one looks very smart on the rubber strap, but the idea of a bronze digital watch with patina is such an intriguing idea. A great contrast between a digital time piece & a very analog expression of time as the case oxidises. Decisions, decisions!

Without a shadow of a doubt, the A168 is my favorite watch ever made. My first one lasted for a solid 15 years, way before i got interested in watches. It was with me through middle school, high school, and countless job sites. I did have to replace it, though. But seeing how it was my only watch, it was understandable. When I really got into watches a few years ago, the first watch i had to get was a new A168. I have tried, bought, and love so many different Casios, but it's the A168 i wear the most.

I think the silver on black rubber at 7:26 looks great. I'd wear that with pride.
Although... there's a bit too much negative space above & below the bezel. Even simple grey horizontal lines as decoration would make it better.

I own four Casios but only one digital: the indestructible F91W. There is some kind of charm in these Casio digitals, especially the vintage ones. Timeless design.

Kind of neat. They should offer a face plate that looks similar to the original.

Jody, I agree I think the faceplate is much of the charm on the A168. I would love a long-term review of the full metal AE1200, still tempted by that one

Being a child of a certain time, digital Casio watches bring back a lot of great memories! These are even cooler than I expected them to be when I saw the thumbnail, as well. The price is a bit steep, but I expect those who want one enough won't care. I'd have the black one with the negative display, with both the FKM and a matching bracelet, if I could. It's mad stealthy in an A-Team kind of way and totally over the top. I love it! Great video, as always. Keep them coming!

Cheaper alternatives to the A168 donor watch are the F-105 & W-86 as they all use the same 1275 module. Great video 👍

Good video, but a much cheaper solution is just to ignore the label "womens" on the a1000 and go for it! On Amazon in the UK it's cheaper than the mod kit. The faux mother of pearl looks good, just adds a litle interest. On a tan brown leather strap it looks perfectly respectable.

I will always click on a new Casio video. I wore an edifice for my teen years and have recently upgraded to an Oceanus. They’re incredible pieces of engineering for the money ❤
