Are you homeschooling a high schooler? Our family's 7th homeschooled high schooler is an upcoming 11th grader so I'm sharing our homeschool curriculum choices for her 11th grade course load.

WELCOME //
I'm Rachel, a mom of two and the oldest in a family of 8 kids. I'm a second-generation homeschooler who is passionate about education. I'm originally from Michigan, but am living overseas. My two young boys and teaching homeschool lessons to my youngest sisters keep me busy, but I make time for writing and for making Youtube videos, too! On this channel, you can expect videos featuring books and homeschool curriculum, homeschool tips for hard days, our journey raising bilingual kids, and vlogs about the intentional adventure that our homeschool lifestyle allows! The great thing about homeschool is that we can adapt the courseload to the individual child, offering opportunities to challenge them and for them to dive into some of their individual interests. You'll notice that this is a fairly challenging courseload. It is custom-designed for a very academically-minded teen who enjoys math and thrives with learning and challenging herself.

An impressive compilation. I would love a video on the resources your sister is using to teach herself piano. The self-determination to learn an instrument independently is terrific.

These are great resources! And you're a great sister for pouring back into your siblings. 💕

I would love a flip-through/review of Life of Fred (especially for high school)! I’m looking at using it for my high schoolers.

I really enjoyed the Sonlight books you shared! I am going to look into bringing a few of them into our year. Excellent idea to teach church history. My parents did an excellent job of teaching me, but I don't think I've done that well at passing that knowledge on. Thank you for pointing out that I need to do that! Great choices!!

I just love that your family is so involved with education, both your mom teaching your boys and you teaching your sisters. I would love to hear more about the HBL 200 over the next year. 😀

HBL 200 looks wonderful. We are still in elementary grades but it’s something to definitely look forward to!

Excellent point about church history. Better to know and understand, rather than have it sprung on you later in life.

Can you make a video about the levels of Chinese your sister has been doing and the resources? Thank you for another great video🌸

We take breaks when we travel a lot and we have a big trip after Easter!!! My oldest son has started TGTB high school language arts and he loves it!!! His writing has grown thru TGTB Language Arts!!! We do a lot of chemistry in our homeschool!!! I require my kids learn health and nutrition!!! Those readers look awesome for Chinese!!! My oldest is learning Hebrew and reading is difficult for him as it’s different to English!!! I think my kids should learn church history!!!

I've heard that apologia health course is a beast and has more college level content. So if you haven't used it before, maybe have that in mind. It's not an easy "get it done" type of course.

Hi Rachel! Can you link the video or the name of it where you review TGATB LA high school course?

That looks like fun, I kinda wish I could do that sonlight level. It looks so interesting. Does she do the sonlight language arts also?

We had issues with finding a school to sit for the AP exam as well in our area as homeschoolers. We went with Dual enrollment instead. I understand you guys are abroad so that might be an option. But maybe she can take a CLEP examination when you are state side to gain credit through examination. I'd just check with the college or university she plans to attend to see what CLEP exams they accept.

Im curious, what did your sister use for Chinese reading before this? My 6 year old is just finishing up Sagebooks, and I'm trying to figure out where to go from here. I have a few ideas, but would love to hear what you did.

I would love to know how to find those Chinese leveled readers…

Does the highschooler do anything with the family? I have a soon to be 9th grader, I'm having a hard time thinking I won't be reading aloud. We are a Sonlight family. Seems so independent, not sure I like it!
